Aston Martin Announces New Vantage GT4 Racer

Although Aston Martin only just launched their Vantage GT4 racer, the British automaker is already set to release an updated version for the 2011 racing season.

The updated Vantage GT4 has supposedly taken inspiration from the new V12 Vantage road car, with its new and enhanced aerodynamics that provide the car with increased downforce. The 2011 GT4 is closely related to the V8 road car, sharing its aluminum chassis, engine, and suspension design.

The V12's inspiration is apparent in the racer's front end with its new spitter, which helps to increase downforce and direct cooling air to the brakes and radiator. The rear end features the V12's larger boot 'flip.' Other upgrades for the 2011 GT4 are a new carbon fiber diffuser and rear underbody, which, according to Aston Martin, creates an area of low pressure under the rear of the car, which not only increases downforce, it increases downforce while also sending more air through a new rear-mounted high capacity transmission oil cooler.

Aston is also offering race-developed Bosch ABS and traction control system. The Vantage GT4 racer will be available for all European GT4 Cup and class events.
