It’s That Hot: Rolls-Royce Ghost Recalled for Fire Risk

Even the most luxurious cars on the market can have potentially serious issues leading to a recall.

Not long ago Maserati issued a recall regarding their GranTurismo S. And now, another uber luxury automaker is issuing a recall for one of their models. Rolls-Royce has announced that they're recalling 589 units of the 2010 Ghost that were built between September 2009 and September 2010. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue involves a defective electric auxiliary water pump that can overheat and could lead to a potential fire.

This exact problem was also seen earlier this week when BMW also issued a recall for the same issue. The problem was in the German automaker's turbocharged eight- and twelve-cylinder engines, such as the V12 unit found in the 760Li. The Ghost has a similar version of this engine. Rolls-Royce stated they will be notifying owners of the problem and a new auxiliary water pump will be installed for free. Being rich is a hard life, isn't it?
