Morgan Delays EvaGT Launch

The beautifully styled GT car will be delayed in order to develop new material technology for its production.

Morgan, the British sports car manufacturer, has announced of a delay in plans to launch the EvaGT. A preliminary design of the car was revealed at the 2010 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and the production model was due for a premiere at the forthcoming Geneva Motor Show. It became clear lately that due to development of new material technology, the car's launch would be delayed by a least two years and according to autocar.co.uk, the car will be on display only at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.

Meanwhile, Morgan will take part in a development of magnesium alloy technology in a consortium with a few other British firms. The magnesium alloy should save 30% percent of the car's body in white weight and improve structural performance. The EvaGT has the classic shape of a GT car with a very long hood, modern tear drop shape side windows and fast back-styled rear end. Under the hood there should be a twin-turbo straight six BMW engine with 302 hp coupled to either a manual or automatic six-speed gearbox.
