Chicago 2011: Ram 1500 Tradesman

We've seen a lot of specialized packages for pickups from American automakers this year, and this has been a good thing all around. This latest entry is the Ram 1500 Tradesman, a pickup built with the intention of getting the maximum utility at the lowest cost. That's because, as the name implies, the Tradesman isn't aimed at those who use their trucks as daily drivers, but rather for those who use them exclusively as tools.

That means you won't be finding a navigation system, but it does come with a Class IV hitch and transmission cooler. Together with the 5.7-liter V8 under the hood, the Tradesman has a 10,450-pound towing capacity. You will have the option of 4X2 or 4X4 and a long bed is available as an option. All of that sounds pretty good, and with a starting price of $22,780 it's pretty likely that Ram Truck will be selling quite a few of these.
