Ford Transit SSV Unveiled Ahead of Official Debut in Birmingham

The Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, England may not be well known, but Ford has decided to unveil the Transit SuperSportVan (SSV) ahead of its scheduled debut. The SSV is pretty much a massive machine based on the short wheelbase 260 model. The vehicle features Le Mans-style hood stripes, a dual exhaust system and an aerodynamic body kit.

Ford still hasn't released powertrain specifics, and probably won't until the show, but power is most likely provided by a 3.2-liter five-cylinder diesel engine that can achieve 197-horsepower. The SSV won't be the only vehicle Ford will be displaying. The automaker is also planning on presenting the Transit Connect Electric that will be launched in the United Kingdom this summer. This EV is set to be hooked up with a 29 kWh lithium-ion battery that will allow it to travel up to 80 miles on a single charge.
