You're scoffing too much about a diesel sports car. The one concern would be engine note, but i think the proper resonator could make it sound right. Regarding acceleration "despite" low HP figures.. horsepower doesn't get a car moving, torque does, and a turbodiesel will make almost peak torque right at idle. Unorthodox maybe but i like the idea.
a nice engine would have been Audi's 2.5 liter 5 cylinder turbocharged engine :)
I would have been fine with 335d engine with a remapped ecu. Not a VW diesel engine built for mpg!

Diesel motors are beast if you can tune them right the cummins motor and yes I know is a truck motor but still that motor can get trucks in to 11s 1/4 miles and that's in a truck that weighs 6k pounds
You know the idea of a diesel sports car has been around for a long time. Diesel can provide performance, the only difference is you can't rev them like you can a gas motor. Gas mileage will be much better and it has more torque than most 250hp gas motored cars. I say kudos to the designer!
If this was made I'm pretty sure there would be options but the point is that it gets 50mpg and goes 0-60 in 4.5. And that's pretty damn good. I'm guessing they tried to make it pretty great all around.
What about the noise? You can't have a proper driver's car without some noise. Now drop a Vantage V8 or a Gallardo V10 in there...
That's more torque than the LS or the LT Camaro, the 2011 model too. This car is a brilliant idea.

That's a big claim there stating, it better be faster than a veyron, better suspension than an evo, spacious and easy on the gas (mpg) by the looks it's neither, yes it does look good and mean, but not enough for me to say the best car

The perfect driver's car is the 430 scuderia convertible, it's fun, makes one of the best noises a car can make, it's red, it's glamourous and it's a Ferrari. Period
