Ford and Mercedes-Benz Launch Big Rigs

Ford and Mercedes-Benz launch newly designed big rigs. The 2012 Ford Cargo will be for the Brazilian market while the 2012 Mercedes-Benz Actros will be set for the European section.

When we read about Ford or Mercedes-Benz, we usually don't picture these automakers to be designing any big rigs. Until now, with the introduction of the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz Actros for the European market and 2012 Ford Cargo for Brazil. The Actros was last updated in 2002 but is nowhere near as old as the Ford Cargo, which hasn't been updated since the early 1980s. The Cargo has been redesigned to include new fiberglass panels and reshaped door skins.

In addition, it has adapted a much "beefier" version of a Fiesta-like grille. It appears that the Cargo even drew some inspiration from the Transformers movies. The Actros, on the other hand, has more of a stylish look. The split-grille insert will resemble the automaker's other crossovers and SUV's. Features will include Adaptive cruise control, stability control, active brake assist, airbags and stability control. As typical for the luxury automaker, these features are typically found on smaller cars and rarely on large movers like this. Pricing for the newly revamped rigs is currently unavailable.
