Bristol Will Produce Electric Supercar

Bristol is reportedly developing an all-electric supercar with a targeted top speed of 200 mph.

According to EVO Magazine, an electric Bristol supercar could be arriving as early as 2013 and would also be capable of going 200 mph. There will certainly be a lot of engineering work that needs to be done in order to achieve a high speed of that magnitude, specifically for an EV. Bristol will also reportedly make use of a range extender similar to what's found in the Chevy Volt and Fisker Karma to ensure there will be no range anxiety issues experienced by drivers.

The Bristol supercar will supposedly have a total of four electric motors with one for each wheel and separated into two powertrains. There will be a 14KW battery pack that will be good for a range of 20-30 miles. The technology will be developed in partnership with Proton, who entered their Exora REEV development vehicle in this year's Future Car Challenge held in London. The Proton took first place by averaging 127 mpg. The next several months should be interesting as Bristol and Proton continue development in this rapidly emerging "super EV" segment.
