Wiesmann Bides Farewell at Frankfurt to their Roadster MF3

Wiesmann prepares a fond farewell to their Roadster MF3 after 18 years on the market.

Wiesmann has prepared a proper farewell to their Roadster MF3 at this year's Frankfurt Auto Show. On the market for 18 years, the small automaker has decided it's time to say farewell to what is perhaps the best interpretation of the proper roadster on the market (next to the Mazda MX-5). The Final Edition was created with the added assistance of Sieger fashion and is available in 18 different colors and also features a bespoke interior complete with leather and chrome trim.

Powered by a BMW-made 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine with 343hp, it can go from 0 to 62mph in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 158mph. The engine is mated to either a five or six-speed manual or an optional six-speed SMG. So how did the relationship with Sieger come about? It turns out the managers of the each of the companies are brothers and are even headquartered in the same city. According to Friedhelm Wiesmann, the automaker's managing director, "Sieger...is the ideal company to match our ambition to combine beauty and technical perfection as one.

Our basic idea was to create an amazing design that would make the last cars even more desirable and valuable." Wiesmann began building the MF3 in 1993 and reportedly looked into exporting it to the U.S, but cancelled those plans due to exchange rates and the high cost of modifying and testing their cars.
