Honestly Ford, GM and Plymouth, defined the affordable sports coupe in the 60's bit abandoned it in the 70's because of the insurance and government actions of high prices and smog control, respectively.

$27k? Ouch. I'll go with a Mustang GT for close to that price. Or a brand new 2005-2009 GT that's even less and still faster. Or a GTI. Or a Mini Cooper S. Etc Plus it's a Toyota so it will be boring

No 4 cylinder sounds good. I wish Toyota got off their rear and developed an aluminum block V6 for this at the minimum.
A 4 cylinder boxer engine doesnt make it a ricer...these engines deliver good power, performance, and can sound pretty good too. The new wrx is a good example.
If it was Tt V6 or bigger engine it wouldn't be 26K, the whole article is about how it's an economical and affordable sports car, and a V10 is hardly affordable, defeats the purpose
they should have made it with a twin turbo V6 or a V8 or even a V10, this Asian car looks way to good to have a 4 banger. Now its just gonna be another ricer.

I agree with Michael, anything less than that would be underpowered in a high power market.
I've been in one of these, and the model I sat in wasn't worth it's $24,000 price tag. I have three VW's, this one isn't nearly as nice!

@Daniel An M3 starts at $60k. Although all the ones I've seen for sale are at least $70k. Not to mention an M3 won't be as exciting and nowhere near as good looking

@Ian - less than 2000 lbs, this is similar to an Elise, the 0-60 will be on par with other 50k cars but the braking and handling is likely to be above average. I am actually excited about this one but, admittedly, at 50k you can get a 430hp corvette. But this thing will turn more heads and looks better so I can understand people buying one.

I'm pretty sure the Jag will be more expensive. I'm also certain that you could get better numbers out of the engine with relatively little effort. And it's obvious to anyone with eyes that an M1 AIN'T GOT NOTHIN on these curves.
