Bugatti Galibier Delayed Until 2015/16

Four-door brother for the Veyron is still a few years away as Bugatti strives to meet its clients' expectations.

If you've been waiting patiently for your chance to get your hands on the upcoming Bugatti Galibier, we're afraid you'll have to wait a while longer. This according to Autocar magazine, which recently spoke with Bugatti's new chief executive Wolfgang Schreiber. Apparently development of the four-door Bugatti sedan - tipped to revive the Royale name when it hits showrooms - is still under way, but isn't likely to be completed until 2015 or 2016 at the earliest. This despite the Galiber concept having been presented way back in 2009.

The Galibier is Bugatti's vision for an ultra-high-end luxury sedan, with a version of the Veyron's W16 engine turned around and mounted at the front of the car but still driving all four wheels. The project is seen as a good way for Bugatti and its parent company Volkswagen to make further use of the engine developed for the Veyron. The reason for the delay is apparently due to Bugatti's ceaseless efforts to meet its customers' extensive demands. After all, when you're spending seven figures on a new car, you have the right to hold certain expectations and the demand they be fulfilled.

Meeting those demands has proven challenging even for a company like Bugatti that is used by now to satisfying its elite clientele. Though the delays may seem long now, it's entirely likely no one will even notice in the long run. After all, it took Bugatti six years (from 1999 to 2005) to bring the Veyron from concept to reality, and who really cares about that at this point?
