1992 Audi S4 Hits 260 MPH

By clocking an average speed of over 236 mph, this 1992 Audi S4 became the world’s fastest sedan.

The thrill of going in excess of 260 mph in any car, let alone one dating back to 1992, is a heck of a thing to articulate. Simply reliving it on video is enough to give you goose bumps. Just as impressive as the feat is the fact owner and driver Jeff Gerner was able to squeeze a full 1,100 horsepower from the five-cylinder Audi S4 and send it to the salt flats via an all-wheel drive system without a single glitch. This video, created by eGarage, documents the high speed run that took place at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.

Last year Jeff managed to hit 242 mph. This year the 20-year-old Audi mustered a top speed in excess of 260 mph, and his two blistering runs along the dry lake bed averaged 236.599 mph. That was enough to give his S4 the title of world's fastest sedan, shattering the previous record by over 12 mph in the process.
