Sam SaechaoOct 24, 2012 @ dirk. You must not realize what you posted. Amg is for Mercedes which you brought up and thought someone else was confusing it for tmg which does exist for Toyota. Tmg is present in Germany. Lets not try to change the subject boy
Jared PalmerOct 23, 2012 Toyota is ousting the TRD designation due to unwanted criticism, 'turd'. They are suppose to be changing to the TMG (Toyota Motorsports Group) by 2014 not to be confused with the TMg R&D as they are separate entities.
Antonio FalsettiOct 23, 2012 Finally some respectable hp numbers.
Kyle RawnOct 23, 2012 Haha this guy is easy to make angry. Just trolling, and I got you sir.
Dirk Austin GreerOct 23, 2012 Oh and while you're at it maybe YOU should research TMG. Because you are obviously confused. The original comment was referring to TRD and stating they they are not Toyota's real racing dept. why don't you look THAT up.
Dirk Austin GreerOct 23, 2012 @Kyle, a newbie? So you don't know what TRD is either then? And obviously you didn't read the article or comment. I'm fully aware what TMG is. It's Toyota Motorsport GmbH and they are a testing and development site. They are not TRD. But good one
Kyle RawnOct 22, 2012 @ Dirk. Oh boy, looks like we got another newbie here. Coming from a Toyota guy, Sam is right. Don't believe us? Google "tmg Toyota" literally takes 30 seconds to research.
Dirk Austin GreerOct 22, 2012 @sam, so it's Sam? Not nick? Oh wait, that's right it's not. Maybe read the actual comment before opening your mouth. TRD is the parts & RACING department of Toyota. TRD is to Toyota, what AMG is to Merc. TMG is an R&D facility. Thanks though.
Devin BabynOct 22, 2012 Finally they'll make it up to specs I'll respect. Wish it was the FRS though can't stand this front end
Benjamin Levin-O'LearyOct 22, 2012 Can't wait for this. There's one on my block. Sounds amazing.
Sam SaechaoOct 22, 2012 @dirk
Please do research before posting. Tmg is Toyota Motorsports GmbH. Amg is for Mercedes LOL!
Brady FeredayOct 22, 2012 Muni this car weighs nothing though this is going to haul ass
Muni Singh BahraOct 22, 2012 Why buy brz or gt86 when u can get so much more out of other coupe cars, this doesnt have enough bhp for starters being a scooby, ///M Power baby :)
Dirk Austin GreerOct 22, 2012 @Nick, I think you're a little confused. TRD= TOYOTA Racing Development. And they supply performance parts for toyota's and Scion's. Lexus has their own F-division. TRD also does Toyota's racing. TMG? Germany? You must be thinking of AMG. lol.
Joshua Minh TranOct 22, 2012 If Subaru releases this I'm sure Toyota would do something similar, they well not just sit idly by.
Nick SchneeOct 22, 2012 TRD just makes cosmetic mods on random Lexuses, as far as I know, Toyota's real racing division is TMG, even though it's mostly Germany-centered.
Puneet DassOct 22, 2012 I thought Gazoo was a racing division of Toyota much like TRD? Correct me if I'm wrong please
Stephen Tyler LearnOct 22, 2012 The gazoo car also made enough power to blow apart the stock transmission which is a problem that they haven't addressed yet
William DownsOct 22, 2012 @puneet the gazing racing gt-86 wasn't built by Toyota, gazing racing is a team sponsored by Toyota and the car they made was twin charged not just turbo, and was a stripped out race car
Daniel EadsOct 22, 2012 I would be sweet if they take off some weight too, or at least keep it the same.
Puneet DassOct 22, 2012 Toyota has also made a concept turbo version called the Gazoo version. Don't know what's stopping them from releasing it as a factory model now after this news
Shelby CassandraOct 22, 2012 Wonder how much the markup will be for these. I believe I seen a bottom of the line model for 33k at a dealer. A markup of the same caliber would put this at like 50k.
John SerelyOct 22, 2012 These are so good looking! The wing fits the car too
Chad SchleyOct 22, 2012 John they look like some kind of 4 piston calipers to me.
John M WeishahnOct 22, 2012 They should upgrade the brakes to handle that new power. You'd think they'd at least do that for the show car.
Victor PittsOct 22, 2012 I can't get over how good these cars look.
Kai SmithOct 22, 2012 They finally made the BRZ look way better and more horse power! This is definitely gonna be my first coupe!
Frederick PerezOct 22, 2012 Way better looking than Scion/Toyota version.
Paul DickeyOct 22, 2012 First time I looked at this car and liked it.
William DownsOct 22, 2012 That's what I'm talking about
Description: The turbo BRZ could benefit from a single twin-scroll turbocharger and direct injection to augment its horizontally-opposed 2.0-liter engine. This mechanical setup would contrast with the DI/port-...Add Comments38
Dan SeehagelOct 23, 2012 Awd makes handling better?? Because a Lamborghini handles well then it must be true. By that logic all f1 cars should be Awd. The systems you speak of are costly and heavy both of which are the exact opposite of the entire concept of the 86.buy a wrx
Miguel JimenezOct 23, 2012 A turbo by it's self is already going to make the front end heavier.
Miguel JimenezOct 23, 2012 @Davin Lamborghinis are mid engine so AWD doesn't make the the front end that heavy but since the BRZ is front engine it would have a huge front biased. AWD defeats the purpose of this car it's supposed to be light, nimble, and agile.
Terrance ParkerOct 22, 2012 As I said before people you can dream in one hand and you can poo in the other, see which hand fills quicker. I like rumors, but I LOVE facts!!!!
David ParentiOct 22, 2012 If you want to drift corners all day then by all means RWD only. But if you want to pull out of corners and off the line then you can't beat AWD. Especially in something this light. I love RWD cars but IMO this car should be offered in AWD option.
David ParentiOct 22, 2012 Anyone who thinks this car wouldn't be cool AWD is nuts. Sure it would change how the car handles, it would handle better... I'm sure you think an AWD Lamborghini is dumb too because it handles different. It also gets from 0-60 faster.
Shelby CassandraOct 22, 2012 @Daniel. He said cayman r or s. which are very close to 70k.
Daniel EadsOct 22, 2012 Shelby, he may be on crack but I don't know what you're smoking. A cayman starts out around 53k. You are right though, the whole point of buying a Subaru is to have the performance without the price tag.
Shelby CassandraOct 22, 2012 @Chase. Are you on crack? The cayman costs around 70k base price. Add tax and dealer markups it is probably close to an 80k car. That would be a terrible business decision on Subaru's part. It would have to be VERY fast to reach that price range.
Chase HuddlesOct 22, 2012 That all great, but do you know what I really want to see? A model that just straight up goes for the Cayman S/R. This is along the lines of a Mustang GT/370 Z and I'm sure they'll do fine against them, but with all those dynamic bench marks they had against the Cayman, I just want to see version with around 300-350 horsepower and more serious hardware.
Colby ChurchOct 22, 2012 @Corey There's no way a car lower class than the 370 is going to give the BRZ STI a run for its money. It has almost the same power as a 370 with a lot less weight. It's gonna be quick dude. Probably 5 second 0-60.
Justin RouthOct 22, 2012 @carlos 5.0 will be cheaper, have more power, and that wonderful V8 sound. Its not gonna handle like the brz though
Darren NardoOct 22, 2012 I am a muscle car guy but if they make a BRZ STI it will sell very well and be crazy fun to drive! Lets see what they do with pricing ?? Hope this becomes a reality!
Terrance ParkerOct 22, 2012 Here these rumors often, seen this same car at the 2010 LA Auto Show. I'll believe when I see it.
Andrew PalmerOct 22, 2012 This is cool...I'd be doen
Joshua Minh TranOct 22, 2012 @Aaron depends on what you're looking for. If you don't want to get your hands dirty, have power right out of the box then Brz. If you want serious power, like to work on your car, and drive a higher class vehicle then 370z.
Shelby CassandraOct 22, 2012 @Carlos. This will be much more expensive than the 5.0.
Carlos Eduardo GaviriaOct 22, 2012 Should I buy a 2013 5.0 now or should I just wait for this
Victor PittsOct 22, 2012 I hate iPhones solely on auto-correct reasons
Victor PittsOct 22, 2012 I was pretty close to flaming the AWD comment by David down there, BUT, you all forget about a little car called the Subaru Impreza RS back I the day? The last AWD COUPE by Subie! They should offer the AWD package, but I love this car as RWD.
Dustin LabitOct 22, 2012 Subaru justly have gotten a new fan.
Matt SuttonOct 22, 2012 Maybe some do not like the looks of the wrx sti. Im not a fan. But its still a great car. Having options never hurts.
Adam SolomonOct 22, 2012 If you want a BRZ with awd then you could take the transfer case from a wrx and then buy the rest of the wrx and shut up about an awd BRZ.
Corey MullisOct 22, 2012 the new down market 280z resurrection is going to be quite the competition for this thing. and we should be seeing signs of it around the time this turbo grade comes out
gunterOct 22, 2012 i reckon it will have a top speed of 165 mph
Puneet DassOct 22, 2012 For people wishing this was awd, you have the wrx Sti for that. Rwd with a bit of power = lots more fun.
Brady FeredayOct 22, 2012 And sadly I bet pricing with mark ups and all will be close to 40
Brady FeredayOct 22, 2012 370z or this for me I will never get a Hyundai
Bruce-Almighty TumblinOct 22, 2012 @Aaron, bout 2800 pounds & 280hp; the BRZ STI hands down.
Bruce-Almighty TumblinOct 22, 2012 @David, what the point of making it AWD when they already a WRX & STI? This way they are diverse in the cars that their offering, you should think before you hit the "post" button dude!
Aaron CrispOct 22, 2012 Genesis, 370z or this? Gonna be hard!
Matt SuttonOct 22, 2012 Awd would have sealed the deal. Anyone have any idea on pricing? Hope its competitive. I can get a gen coupe with almost 70 more hp. But maybe power to weight ratio makes up for it.
William DownsOct 22, 2012 Cause r&d*
And adding awd would be stupid and pointless plus ruin the cars handling characteristics
William DownsOct 22, 2012 I think Subaru had this plan all along, no way Subaru is gonna have a performance car without a turbo, that's there money maker, think they used Toyota to help develop a rwd platform. They could build on, case r& cost alot of money
David ParentiOct 22, 2012 Just couldn't make it AWD could you....
gunterOct 22, 2012 it looks good and its about time they added more power. i think there brains switched on at subaru !
Serge PankratovOct 23, 2012 I think this front end is just beautiful.. But i agreed on a hood scoop.. Make one that looks like the scoop on a 98 Subie GT :) or aomething along those lines
Alex KlemsteinOct 22, 2012 Concave hood scoops/vents would be best. A wrx sti esq hood scoop wouldn't fit this car's esthetics.
William DownsOct 22, 2012 Yea I would love to see a nice subtle hood scoop, not huge but I agree it needs something
Matt PiccoloOct 22, 2012 Needs a (functional) hood scoop
Brady FeredayOct 22, 2012 Ya it's not much of an STI hood that's for sure lol
Paul DickeyOct 22, 2012 Good vents would be cool. The good is just too plain for me.
William DownsOct 22, 2012 It's such a great looking car
Vince CassiOct 22, 2012 This is the LA auto show concept. This came out before the production car, so the taillights will likely look like the current model.
Devin BabynOct 22, 2012 I like it, reminds me of the one on the R34
Miguel JimenezOct 22, 2012 @Josh No, probably East Los Angeles or The Bay Area...
Siya FadaneOct 22, 2012 Wing is disgusting. Take it off and let the "rice-" put it on them selves
Trent TurnerOct 22, 2012 Already finished here in Australia and looks nothing like that but it didn't look like a turbo
Tanton StonemanOct 22, 2012 Thanks for fixing the rear Subaru!

ain't that just a slap in the face lol go Subaru!! xD
