BMW Preparing 5 Series Touring Facelift

The 5 Series wagon may well be getting a facelift, but it’s still not coming to the US.
The latest-gen 5 Series hit the market in 2009, with the touring variant arriving a year later. Yet BMW has apparently already deemed the wagon in need of a facelift, which it is currently working on in time for a 2014 release.

Upgrades are being made to the front and rear, with a new front bumper featuring reshaped air intakes, new headlights and a more upright twin-kidney grille. From the spy shots it can't be determined whether the lights will feed into the grille as per the 3 Series, but we suspect they will.

Another change is the sportier side mirrors housing indicator lights, while the rear lights sport new graphics. Engine changes are also in the cards, with the 535i's N55 unit to be replaced by a new turbo inline-six.
