Hamilton Signs the Pact in Skidmarks

Most people would use a pen to sign their name. Lewis Hamilton, however, is not most people: he used a McLaren.

The most powerful signature ever. That's how Johnnie Walker describes its latest publicity stunt. Orchestrated in Singapore just a few weeks ago while circus was in town for the grand prix, the Scotch whisky brand and McLaren team sponsor put former Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel of the McLaren MP4-12C to sign his name on the tarmac in burnt rubber. Along for the ride he took with him one lucky passenger (who looks like he may have left some skidmarks of his own).

The reason? The pact. Johnnie Walker runs an anti-drunk-driving campaign and encourages the public to put their names on (in simpler fashion than Hamilton has, mind you) at JoinThePact.com. Since Hamilton drives for McLaren (at least until next season when he replaces Michael Schumacher at Mercedes), he was called on to lend a hand with the campaign.
