Audi Reveals R8 LMS Real Madrid Edition

Race car wears Real Madrid livery highlighting German automaker’s longstanding relationship with the Spanish champions.

Audi has strong ties to the world of football (or soccer, as it's called in some parts of the world). It was Manchester United's auto sponsor until earlier this year when Chevrolet took over. It became Chelsea's official car partner back in May and also has partnerships with Barcelona, AC Milan and Real Madrid. The "galacticos" have depended on Vorsprung durch Technik since 2003, and each year at around this time, Audi supply the entire Real Madrid team with the cars of their choice.

While handing over a set of R8 keys to Christiano Ronaldo was a highlight of the Audi giveaway event held at the Spanish capital's Jarama circuit, the real star of the show was this one-off Audi R8 LMS shod in Real Madrid livery. There's not much to the "special edition" model other than wearing the club colors of white and blue, sporting the team's iconic crest on the hood and sides of the car, and team name on the windshield and doors. Some of the players, including Pepe and Xabi Alonso, were taken for a spin around the circuit in the impressive race car, and most went home driving a new Q7.
