That said I wouldn't hack up a brand new one unless I was very wealthy, but its not like you can take a stock block z06 to 800whp and have it last for only $3,000 in mods. The beauty of these cars is in their 4 seat, big power, good handling combo.
$60k is steep but consider the potential and the immediate performance. Like all blower cobras, intake, pulley, chip, exhaust, tires, brake pads, dynotune, and maybe even a blower swap will get this comfortably in the 9's with docile drivability.
It's a good deal for what you get yeah. But most people can't afford a $60K car
They are actually pretty cheap for what you get. There are a lot more expensive cars that I see everyday.

I love the originals as cruisers but if you've ever driven one in angst, loads better isn't what I would say. Heat worn tires, scorched brakes, dead clutch and axle hop plague the originals until extensive mods are caries out but they cruise awesome
Mind you, an m3 is 2.5 times the price, has roughly 100lb/ft less torque, and needs to rev to 8500 to reel in all its potential. The 5.0 gt can shed its weight easily at 2500rpms... I've been in both and honestly, e92's feel porky.
Sam I wouldn't go that far, for $23k, a loaded v6 mustang pulls the same handling numbers as an m3. For $31,000 a 5.0 with brembo's is as fast as an m3 around road course's, motortrend and others proved this. Fat? It's lighter than an m3...

I like factory 5's Daytona shell, there's just something about that sheet metal, 60's look that does the Daytona right. I love posh and polished as much as the next person but on a raw road racer, rough and tumble does the trick for me

It was a Ford concept based on the Ford GT architecture but front instead of mid engined. Don't ask me I didn't get it when I heard it either. Always thought it was beautiful myself. Was supposed to be a modern take on the Shelby Daytona Coupe.
