Ford Cobra Jet Packs EcoBoost for SEMA

The most successful production-based drag racer has been improved with EcoBoost technology.
Ford has a large presence at this year's SEMA Show and the latest model to be unveiled by the Blue Oval is a concept drag racer based on the Mustang. The Ford Racing Mustang Cobra Jet has the most successful production-based dragster on the strip since 2008, and forms the basis of this twin-turbo concept version. The new Cobra Jet concept highlights the success of Ford's EcoBoost engines that seek to prove, contrary to the idiom, that there is a replacement for displacement.
The turn-key dragster concept ditches its power-sapping supercharger for a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8. Ford is remaining mum on power figures, however the automaker has announced that the roughly 3,000-lb Cobra Jet Concept should run the quarter mile in the high eight-second range at over 150mph.
