Also, the GTR isn't autonomous. There is a certain skill level needed to put a track time down. The driver does still have to think. You can't just press a button from the sidelines and just watch the car tear up the 'Ring by itself. LOL!
@No Pistons I agree with you 110% but like what you said you're coming from the hard core perspective, I'm coming from a very, very casual one. But as long as we both having fun, right?
Also for the casual driver most races are going to be on the road, in a straight line. In which case it's hard to beat the gtr.
I'm certainly not going to drive with the traction control on but I have no problem with a smart AWD system. Traction control really makes you feel like your not driving but if you turn that off in the gtr is fine.
Ya I am with No Pistons on this one. I want a car that is going to challenge me, and scare the crap out me as well as being really fast. Viper, Z06, GT3RS > GTR
The more you improve the more you can get out of the car. It's like playing a video game, sure it's awesome once your at max level but isn't the journey TO that level that makes it more enjoyable?

Walking home from the beach I saw cobra kit car cruise by and I instantly became 10 years old again. I like the R35 and respect its a abilities but it doesn't move me like others. It sound like an industrial vacuum cleaner. I'd love to drive one tho
Skill is definitely irreplaceable. But like I said, being a very casual driver with neither time or money to always be on a track to hone the craft, being able to get the performance one reads about doesn't seem bad.
Lol I doubt you'll be setting any records but it should make you confident enough to have a good time. And really that's what sports cars are about, having fun. The way it sounds, looks, drives -- it all matters and should make you happy.

Yup everyone has to have a GTR in their garage but for the experience you need a vette or viper. For me one of each for sure, just can't have one without the other.
I'm with David, any car that allows me to beat anyone on a track is fine with me.
I don't have the money or time to always be on a track. If I buy a car and it helps me get times and performance I see in the magazines, I think that's awesome. fyi i do like the Viper and ZR1 as well.

The Viper amazing. The problem is that only skilled drivers can get the maximum from it. The Vette is the same way but less so. Anyone with any moderate amount of skill should be fast in a GT-R after a few laps. I hope to own a Viper one day.
@henz they most certainly do compete. So what if it has two tiny back seats + 2 front seats versus only 2 front seats? They both are very powerful supercars around 100k that put down similar lap times. Most people who consider the viper will also...

Hahaha I'm sorry but GTR doesnt come close to the viper. Viper ruins the zo6s day (C6) and that's the GTRs real rival. I'm sorry but the new viper is on a whole other level of performance.

But that's interesting. Define supercar? It's tricky, but put it like this. Anything that goes sub-4 seconds from 0-60 is supercar speed. 195mph+ and that's a supercar. Agree? What would your definition of a supercar be? Include a Viper? Not me...
No doubt driving a GTR would be a wicked experience, that acceleration from a stand still is nuts.
@David You watch too much Top Gear. Drivers car is a different definition to everyone... I prefer 3 peddles and a 6 speed. As well as a master of the track. (Hence Viper & ZR1)

While working at new jersey motorsports park, id see them all the time. Took a while for them to grow on me. But im a big fan after watching them play on the track.

Lol they are a dime a doesen in Edmonton. They are more common than Shelby mustangs. Probably something to do with the fact that a Shelby requires talent to drive, the gt-r is basically a beginners sport car. Hell, an FR-S is harder to drive

@bill. They being in US since mid 2008. You can pick up a 2008 R35 for around $47000. That's a very good price for what you get.
