McLaren P1 Filmed Testing

Spy video lets us hear the McLaren P1 revving its engine and a brief view inside the cockpit.

McLaren is hard at working preparing its new hypercar for production, and World Car Fans has video footage of the P1 prototype (still wearing camouflage) undergoing testing. The spy video represents the first time we've heard the engine growl, and gives a little glimpse through the window at the car's interior. Although the view of the cabin is brief and obscured, we can see a cockpit similar to the existing MP4-12C - and lacking the 1+2 central driving position of the original McLaren F1.

The design of the McLaren P1 was revealed in September at the Paris Motor Show, and the British racing team turned automaker promises the finished product will be 95% the same as the concept. Power is expected to come from a retuned version of the 12C's 3.8-liter turbo V8, assisted by a hybrid powertrain system for added power.
