Cadillac ELR Coming to Detroit

Less than a month before the doors open for the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, Cadillac is getting ready to reveal its coupe version of the Chevy Volt.
It was no secret that Cadillac has been developing its own version of the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid for the past few years. The clearest indication as to what it will look like was previewed by the 2009 Converj Concept (pictured here), but now Cadillac is preparing to unveil its hybrid at the upcoming Detroit show. Unlike the Volt, the Converj was a coupe that not only incorporated GM's advanced plug-in hybrid technologies but also all of the traits that make a proper Cadillac. Once it reaches production, it will ditch the Converj name to be called the ELR.

Only weeks ahead of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, Cadillac has just released this teaser image of its new luxury coupe. Although it's just a simple silhouette shot, it's quite clear it'll look very similar to that earlier concept, which is certainly not a bad thing, gorgeous as it was. Details are still being kept under wraps at the moment, but we can expect to find a more luxurious interior over the Volt's as well as sportier handling and a higher price tag. More details will come in just a few weeks from Detroit.
