Gumpert Tornante Revealed in Patent Drawings

Gumpert's getting back up to speed, as these patent drawings for a production-ready version of the Touring-penned Tornante apparently reveal.
There's little question that Gumpert makes some of the fastest, most brutal cars ever to hit road or track. But the styling of the Apollo left something to be desired. The troubled German automaker responded to its shortcomings by teaming up with Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera to introduce the Tornante concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, but financial difficulties seemed to have hampered its development.

Now, however, our friends over at World Car Fans have gotten their hands on a series of patent renderings that seem to indicate that Gumpert, now back on its feet, is moving forward with the project. The drawings reveal some slight changes to the Tornante's design on the Autobahn from concept to production, principally revolving around the shape of the head- and tail-lights, a louvered engine cover, flattened exhaust tips and a revised front lip spoiler. The changes are minute, but the fact that there have been any changes at all suggest that the Tornante could be heading towards production, albeit at a very un-Gumpert-like pace.
