$200,000.00
Robert Young Jan 11, 2013
Corvette World in Dallas has one for $200.00. Yea I won't be buying that lol
Miguel Jimenez Dec 04, 2012
@William I don't really use the term crank horse power, but it makes sense. It's just shortened for horsepower measured at the crank shaft right?
Alex Arvanitis Dec 03, 2012
sacks up power, but that'd still mean its under rated and making 925-933hp. Epic none the less. That 1500hp build will be awesome, tell I hope everything works out great and runs like a bat outta hell.
Alex Arvanitis Dec 03, 2012
1000hp really? They trap like 145 though and weigh 3200lbs. Usually 1000hp breaks 150 at that weight, 875-900whp is pretty often 150mph territory. My buddy's 3600lbs tt 4.6 cobra ran 148mph with 860whp.. I saw one of these Camaro's make 815whp. Auto
William Downs Dec 03, 2012
Miguel crank and flywheel HP are the same thing, although your the first person I've ever seen call it fly wheel horsepower, usually referenced as HP at the crank not flywheel
Miguel Jimenez Dec 02, 2012
1000 hp highly doubt that. And "crank hp" ? I think you mean fly wheel horse power.
Trent Fiala Dec 02, 2012
They underate them on purpose.. That engine makes just over 1000hp straight from the factory when you get it with the factory tune, my dads buddy has number 43 of 69 but were taking that engine out anyways and building a 1500hp supercharged brand new ls engine for it
Alex Arvanitis Dec 02, 2012
They put* what the hell is with my phone and auto editing in a terrible way?
Alex Arvanitis Dec 02, 2012
The poor a 2.9 tvs on the 2013? I just checked, we're both wrong. It's a 2.3L tvs*
Jon White Dec 02, 2012
Actually, the Gt500 is a 2.9L supercharger.
Alex Arvanitis Dec 02, 2012
550hp? That's wrong, a 4.0 on a built block is more like 900 crank hp. The zl1 makes 580hp with hypereutonic internals in a mild 6.2 running I believe a 1.8L eaton. It might be a 2.1 but I'm pretty sure it's the 1.8 while the gt500 is a tvs 2.1
Lou Guerrero Dec 03, 2012
At least it's only 1 of two.
David Parenti Dec 02, 2012
@shelby, yeah I guess you're right if you look at it that way.
Raschard Jackson Dec 02, 2012
Looks beastly!
David Gomez Dec 02, 2012
For some reason the hood looks out of proportion or at an awkward angle from the grill and kind of messes with the front end look.
Shelby Cassandra Dec 02, 2012
Does it really matter if it is a convertible or not? It will still run a 9 with a moderate driver. 9's will destroy most of the cars at track day.
Aaron Crisp Dec 02, 2012
Why? Cause 'Merica!!!
David Parenti Dec 02, 2012
It's not about looks. It's about weight
David Parenti Dec 02, 2012
Except the fact that it weighs more than a hard top to begin with. So as far as drag cars go, convertibles aren't the go to car.
Dillon Dixon Dec 02, 2012
I'm with William. It's all about the experience of flying down the track and hearing that monstrous sound coming from the exhaust! I feel like its a "why the hell not" kind of car.
Jimmy Janik Dec 02, 2012
Ugliest thing ive ever seen
Adam Beiersdorfer Dec 02, 2012
Time slips...
Adam Beiersdorfer Dec 02, 2012
The whole point of a convertible is you are willing to sacrifice performance for ride and comfort... If you want a dragster, why give two @!@$! About it being a convertible... When I think convertible, I think slow cruising, not time sheets...
Alex Arvanitis Dec 02, 2012
Those 10.50's look beast, are they 12.50's maybe? Look great
David Parenti Dec 02, 2012
Some first gen corvette bodied drag cars are convertible. They have a single roll cage over the drivers helmet.
Alex Arvanitis Dec 02, 2012
I believe there are open top classes but I'm probably wrong. Personally, I wouldn't chose to run a convertible against coupes simply because of the weight and rigidity disadvantages. I have seen awesome 8 and 9 sec cruiser verts though but it's rare
Zeus Mocha Dec 02, 2012
This would be so fun.
Michael Montefusco Dec 02, 2012
If I drag raced this, the last two shits I would give it "like OMG my car would look so much better with a roof! This roll cage looks so like out if place. OMG I can never take this car out again". Idiots.
Clay Williams Dec 02, 2012
Sure it doesn't look horrible but it would still look much better with a roof.
William Downs Dec 02, 2012
Its not about the looks its about the expierence besides it doesn't look that horrible when u look at it as a drag racer
Adam Beiersdorfer Dec 02, 2012
There is no point of building a convertible drag car... Roll cages look soooo out of place on one... IMO
Alex Arvanitis Dec 03, 2012
That's assuming the kid listens though, which isn't as common as it should be. They'd probably try and show you how to "do it better" and fuq the whole thing up so bad analogy on my part I suppose.
Alex Arvanitis Dec 03, 2012
I'm just saying if I can pilot my car, this would be cake. These cars have so much adjustability that you could pretty easily set it up, throw a 16 year old in, let them practice for an hour, and have 15 9 second slips to look at.
Shelby Cassandra Dec 03, 2012
@Miguel. That's the jist of it.
Lou Guerrero Dec 03, 2012
Saw a video of a guy wrecking a cobra jet on YouTube. Not saying its quantum mechanics or planetary physics but these things do crash.
Miguel Jimenez Dec 02, 2012
Lol, I'm sure drag racing is a lot harder than just mashing the pedal and keeping the wheels straight.
Gabriel Scott Dec 02, 2012
Honestly, what is the point of a track made drag car that is a covert.?
Shelby Cassandra Dec 02, 2012
@Brandon. This has a 3 speed auto. Keep the wheel straight and push the gas. If you can't figure that out then you are a dumbass and should be forced to drive a moped.
Alex Arvanitis Dec 02, 2012
"Don't turn the wheel if its doing a wheelie or it'll flip over when you land" That's like the most important thing, otherwise it's pretty simple.
Alex Arvanitis Dec 02, 2012
with a bit of coaching and some pointers. "Set it at 4,500 rpms, then go about full throttle by 20 mph then get on the brakes after the traps." It's a little more involved than that but not much man.
Alex Arvanitis Dec 02, 2012
That's be a cake walk, they're automatics and solid axels dude. They just hook and book. My car makes way more power and is a true built 6spd IRS street car and I drive that just fine, I don't get what your getting at, a 16 yr old could drive this
Alex Arvanitis Dec 02, 2012
Skinnies just look weird on 5th gens. Such a big wide boxy car looks odd on 26" x 4.5"tires. I know it helps drop weight and decrease rolling resistance but its just the look. I wouldn't have photod the car at this angle
Devin Babyn Dec 02, 2012
Did they seriously change the exhaust and just leave the cutouts there. Change the damn bumper
Alex Arvanitis Dec 02, 2012
This car is just too wide and boisterous to look sexy with skinnys upfront at this angle. Not to objectify/bash certain women but it looks like a chubby chick with stubby cankles. :-/ or like a fat squatty bald guy with tiny shins.
