Description: There's been a lot of talk lately about the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro, due sometime in late 2014 or early 2015. Aside from rumors of a turbo four-pot as a possible base engine in that car,...Add Comments73
Patrick SchalkDec 26, 2012 Yeah but look how well brands like Tesla and Fisker are doing? Government mandates like that are bs.
Jack HowardDec 26, 2012 Oh it was? The article I read about it was from 2010
William DownsDec 26, 2012 O.o.... wtf was that... it didn't look like that when I hit sent... I hate android so much
William DownsDec 26, 2012 Yea all were supposed to have at least one ever vehicle in there line up, per a gover meant mandate... but after the volt flop the mandate was raises thank god
Jack HowardDec 26, 2012 Ok I agree but you do have to realize that Ford did a better job in dealing with their whole money crisis. On another note, Chrysler promised the government that they would have an electric car to be shown in 2010, and they didn't. Those bastards.
Patrick SchalkDec 26, 2012 Mortgage their assets? Do you mean liquidate Jack?
William DownsDec 26, 2012 All the great things the american car companies are doing is a result of help from the government, doesn't matter how much they got help, still got it.... bottom line without the help the american car companies wouldn't be where they are today and we wouldn't have the great cars we do now
William DownsDec 26, 2012 All that money they got from sellingAston, jag, Volvo and the other company's was almost all spent on there research into ecoboost and the redesign of the company, without the loan ford would not have had the money to overhaul its factories to produce the new vehicles
William DownsDec 26, 2012 The money u say they lost, is invested in 32% of general motors, once gm stock reaches a certain percent they will have been completely played back, u can argue it all u want but ford even admitted it wasn't sure about its future, its 2 biggest manufacturing plants were designed to build trucks only, and the other lines weren't set to build there new cars
Jack HowardDec 26, 2012 And I also have multiple articles if you wish to see. I could make a whole works cited page for you if I wanted to.
Jack HowardDec 26, 2012 Don't have to pay back. See the difference?
Jack HowardDec 26, 2012 The main difference here is that Ford got a loan, like we do from a bank. It's borrowing money and then paying it back over a set period of time with interest. GM also got a loan, of 6.7billion. What they also got was 50billion of money that they don
Jack HowardDec 26, 2012 And yes, GM and Chrysler paid back its loans but the government still lost 34billion dollars. Not all the money given to GM and Chrysler were in the form of loans.
Jack HowardDec 26, 2012 Ford was not in danger of going under given that they mortgaged their assets in 2006. They were 2 years ahead of GM and Chysler and foresaw trouble and avoided bankruptcy whereas GM and Chrysler dove head first into it.
William DownsDec 25, 2012 While ford did not get a bailout like gm and Chrysler, without the loan ford would have died off just like gm and Chrysler, Ford sold off almost all its assets to try to help its self but still needed help... if your skeptical I can find u the link to the Forbes article
William DownsDec 25, 2012 Ford barrowed 5.9billion in June 2009, same month gm filed for help, government loaned gm and Chrysler 64billion combined witch also included the money used to help there financing company's, so gm and Chrysler payed back 64billion dollars before ford could pay back 5.9 billion... yeah they really know how to run a better buisness.. NoT
William DownsDec 25, 2012 Heyjack guess what, ford took money from the government also... but guess what else Chevy knows how to do, pay back what they owe, Gm is back to being debt free when ford still owes back the money it received to update into manufacturing facilitys
Jack HowardDec 25, 2012 Well Wyatt, it seems that Ford knows how to run a business much better than GM given that they didn't have to get bailed out and are consistently better than them in sales with the exception of the Mustang.
Wyatt GordonDec 25, 2012 Yes please, at least Chevy isnt being a corporate eco-pussy like Ford
Aaron CrispDec 25, 2012 @Good Tyler: Dude that made me laugh so hard! Lol
Carl edDec 25, 2012 nice I like it hope it looks good
Mike RalshDec 25, 2012 Nice! If this is true, then just imagine what the next Z06 could have...
Tyler TarboxDec 25, 2012 Damn I woke up this morning on a jolly old Christmas and I saw all these comments saying things like Tyler you're an idiot shut up and I was like when did I ever even comment on here lol
William DownsDec 25, 2012 And u cannot your your own personal opinion on looks as an arguing point, you just look like a moron, what one person finds attractive not everyone else does to the same extent. Just cause u watched the fast and furious movies doesn't mean u know anything about cars
William DownsDec 25, 2012 Tyler u most certainly don't know what your talking about, gt500 is only faster 0-60 and top speed, zl1 is a better track car, can break better, and is a better more tolerable Car to drive daily, mustang is just a raw power house, camaro is a refined track machine, so before u go around saying u know what your talking about maybe u should go read something about the cars instead of being retarded ...
Aaron CrispDec 25, 2012 Tyler is the worst kind of fanboy.
Jimmy CaseDec 25, 2012 Tyler took a v6 for a test drive at the dealership now he's a vehicle expert.
Jimmy CaseDec 25, 2012 You've got to be kidding the gt engine from 94-2010 was the absolute shittiest thing on this planet. It was getting destroyed by Camaros when they weren't even producing anything.
Tim PreisingerDec 25, 2012 ZL1 is faster around just about any track...
Miguel JimenezDec 25, 2012 @Tyler I bet you didn't know that the ZL1 is faster around the ring than the GT500.
Jack HowardDec 25, 2012 And the 1LE has independent rear suspension. If I was gonna get a muscle car, I'd get a Boss 302. Much more character to me.
Patrick SchalkDec 24, 2012 According to MT the 1LE is faster than the Boss 302. This is gonna be one bad car when they switch to the alpha platform. This Tyler dude is one big pile of ignorance.
Miguel JimenezDec 24, 2012 Tyler just stop, you're making a complete fool out of your self.
Lou GuerreroDec 24, 2012 Tyler you have you're opinion but I highly disagree that the original lt1 to be the last great v8 from Chevrolet.
Jimmy CaseDec 24, 2012 @Tyler you man the whole ls series is garbage....
What an idiot. The LS engines are arguably the the best platform.
Andy KleschickDec 24, 2012 Tyler w. even though I would say that I typically have been a mustang guy, I think it's best if you just stay quiet. You are really making a fool of yourself. This would be a great addition to the camaro lineup.
Chase HuddlesDec 24, 2012 Makes sense. A track day Camaro + zo6 engine= Boss 302 fighter.
Randy HjelmDec 24, 2012 They have to put a Z06 engine in it cause that other pussy engine can't keep up with the 5.0 mustang or the Shelby with 650 hp :)
Alex AlvaradoDec 24, 2012 Wouldn't this take away from Z06 sales , in a way?
Dillon MageeDec 24, 2012 That would be an awesome combination.
Nodnarb YdilDec 24, 2012 I'm sure it will be a limited run. Still gonna make for one hell of a car
Alex SmithDec 24, 2012 Finally back to the good old days.
Justin RouthDec 24, 2012 You cant deny that with extra displacement comes extra potential. I gotta say im a little worried for my mustang but if ford hears this i know they'll get something better for the new stang ;) hahaha
Avery WilliamsDec 24, 2012 Damn, I guess it was time for the Camaro to step it up!!!
Dylan BruderDec 24, 2012 @david hp sells torque wins races the ls7 has a pretty solid power curve for those 505 hp and 470 lbft
Zeus MochaDec 24, 2012 They were the most produced and maybe cheaper because of demand and supply. Why would they want to make more if it wouldn't sell.
Zachary MaurerDec 24, 2012 @nelson...sorry, my friend took my iPod....-__-
Zachary MaurerDec 24, 2012 @nelson, you won't be around on this forum much longer if you keep trolling
David ParentiDec 24, 2012 The Chevrolet 350 was like the MOST produced engine ever. Along with the turbo 350 trans.
David ParentiDec 24, 2012 Look here. I never said one was better than the other. Just comparing numbers. Some food for thought if you will...
LS engines outsell others because they are the most affordable. Not because they are the absolute best.
Jordan SmithDec 24, 2012 Because David's a Ford fanboy, he just won't admit it.
Stephen Tyler LearnDec 24, 2012 @david why do you always troll in with everything ford>everything gm? Your exactly like Colby
John HylandDec 24, 2012 @Chevrolet: Shut up and take my money
Miguel JimenezDec 24, 2012 it's 505hp by the way. LS>modular. There's a reason why LS crates out sell modular crate by about 1/4.
Miguel JimenezDec 24, 2012 @David this argument gets so old! Yes, the LS7 has two more liters but you forgot to mention that the LS7 weighs 100lbs less than the Coyote 5.0. And it has a flatter torque band.
David ParentiDec 24, 2012 The LS7 gets 460 hp from 7 liters.
The 5.0 coyote in the boss 302 makes 444 hp from 5 liters.
Pretty similar power with 2 liters less. That's minus an entire Honda engine!
Colby ChurchDec 24, 2012 Ohhhhhhhhhhh yeaaah..... Now we're in business.
Jommel MarcellaDec 24, 2012 A 7.0 liter, you must be joking.
Nelson AlexanderDec 24, 2012 Chevy isn't fucking around anymore.
Patrick SchalkDec 24, 2012 This just got moved up on my dream car list.
Miguel JimenezDec 24, 2012 Yea this totally looks like a Vette.
Michael BeachDec 24, 2012 They're turning this into a corvette
Description: With a total of 505 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, it's not as powerful as the 6.2-liter LSA V8 in the Camaro ZL1, which produces 580 hp and 556 lb-ft, but it still packs quite a punch ...Add Comments20
Benjamin PonceDec 27, 2012 Ok good. new camaro now what you need to do GM is to make the camaro way LIGHTER AND SMALLER! Because making a new camaro but still HEAVY then whats the point? So Light and smaller oh and POWERFUL.
Megan MoodyDec 25, 2012 Now just make the car smaller and lighter GM.
William DownsDec 25, 2012 @Alex. As far as what we have been told the cuda will replace the challenger, and Chrysler has already said that they plan on cutting alot of weight from the car
Jimmy CaseDec 25, 2012 New Cuda better go on a freaking diet. Dodge shot itself in the foot by building a boat of a sports car. Handling and speed suffered.
Alex SmithDec 25, 2012 Is the Cuda replacing the entire Challenger line or just the SRT?
Lou GuerreroDec 24, 2012 This new 'Cuda better be damn good lol
Andy KleschickDec 24, 2012 I'd have to see the specs, but the styling is ok. Not the best, but one of the best vette designs I think
Miguel JimenezDec 24, 2012 @Ryan it's already a SmallBlock...
Ryan Patrick ClausonDec 24, 2012 I read in motortrend that the z06 is going to a small block, possibly a 5.5P
Matt PiccoloDec 24, 2012 @ Jordan, the inline 4 will slot below the 6, so it might be cheaper than the current 6, and lower the base price
Michael GallagherDec 24, 2012 Also for those people who want to own a Camaro but can't afford the real deal. And I know I will get hate for saying that, but it's true.
Jordan SmithDec 24, 2012 Well I understand that, I mean why offer both an inline 4 and a V6 at the same time?
Alex SmithDec 24, 2012 To give people who don't care about performance but like the camaro a reason to buy
William DownsDec 24, 2012 The point is for those people that buy a car based on looks cause they don't care about performance.. won't hurt that it will get good mpg at the same time
Jordan SmithDec 24, 2012 What's the point in having a base inline 4 and a V6?
Patrick SchalkDec 24, 2012 I read about this on MT last night and almost crapped my pants. I REALLY hope they bring back the Z28
Aaron SparksDec 24, 2012 There is easily more power and torque available in that motor than 505/470. Chevy detuned it so much it's almost funny.
Miguel JimenezDec 24, 2012 It's also lighter than the LSA...A lot lighter.
Eric AnthonyDec 28, 2012 In a straight line no, on a track; yes.
Benjamin PonceDec 27, 2012 ZL1 rock!!! But it's Damm heavy that's why it can't beat, the gt500
Tyler TarboxDec 25, 2012 Yeah if you look at it that way then yes the two are pretty even in terms of history
William DownsDec 25, 2012 I don't ever looks at sales figures, I was talking about there history as cars and in racing.
Jimmy CaseDec 25, 2012 Actually last year Camaro topped mustang in sales.
Tyler TarboxDec 24, 2012 @Miguel. Yeah it started about the same time as the Mustang, but I'm saying up until recently the Mustang has dominated the Camaro in sales per year. Especially back in the early muscle car days
Jacob BurfordDec 24, 2012 I'll take this one please! Not a fan of a regular Camaro or the SS, but I love the ZL1!
Miguel JimenezDec 24, 2012 @Tyler the Mustang is only 2years older than the Camaro. How does it not have the history?
Tyler TarboxDec 24, 2012 @William. I agree that neither is a wrong choice currently. However the Camaro does not have the history of the mustang. Back in the 60s, Camaro sales were greatly overshadowed by the Mustang. They are pretty much even now though
William DownsDec 24, 2012 Camaro has just as much history as the mustang, they have always been neck and neck, every year on holding something over the other... when it comes down to it its just what u prefer... a raw and crazy muscle car, or a muscle car designed for the track... neither is really a wrong choice
Zeus MochaDec 24, 2012 Hell yea Zach. Love the dream cruise.
Zachary MaurerDec 24, 2012 It's incredible to see this, the gt500, and the challenger srt-8 all in black, all parked side by side, the joy of the dream cruse
Lee GardnerDec 24, 2012 Curtis you had to mention it didn't ya
Curtis DouganDec 24, 2012 If I had to get a muscle car I'd get a gt500 because of its awsome history and power. But I'd probably get a 5 series or e-class for this money
Paul DickeyDec 24, 2012 Not a fan. I think the front looks bad. Back end is nice though.
Aaron SparksDec 24, 2012 Saw one of these outside of the post office a few weeks ago. Didn't realize how much more intimidating this car looks compared to even the SS. Sick car.
Jordan SmithDec 25, 2012 No pistons in for the kill!
No PistonsDec 25, 2012 Freeway? Yes because public highways is the same as a racetrack. Its where mark weber trains actually
William DownsDec 25, 2012 Not trying to start with u matt, but every time people ask u what cars that u have driven to compare to other, the vette especially cause u always say its not that great but every time we ask what u have driven u just say others or dodge the question, never actually give answers... so what have u driven that compares to the corvette that makes it just so blah to u?
Miguel JimenezDec 25, 2012 @Matt all of a sudden you want to use proper grammar when I call you out on your shit. I'm not the only who recalls you saying that you were 14.
Jesse AndersenDec 25, 2012 Definitely money well spent and big ups to American Made HP.
Matt PiccoloDec 25, 2012 @ Miguel, I'm not "fooling" anyone. Seriously, stop assuming shit! You're so stupid
Jacob BurfordDec 24, 2012 Off the topic of someone's age and back to the car, I've always seen the Z06 as the car you buy if you just want the best performance for your money! Not a huge fan of corvette looks but I like them purely for the performence!
Lizmary MendozaDec 24, 2012 Lol I remember you saying that Matt. I guess ur a lucky 14year old right? Lol
Miguel JimenezDec 24, 2012 Your mentality makes me think you're not over 16 years old. You may fool everyone else but not me.
Matt PiccoloDec 24, 2012 @ Miguel, shut up already! I'm not 14! Stop assuming shit.
Miguel JimenezDec 24, 2012 @William Matt is full of shit. I remember him awhile back saying that he was 14. I doubt he's ever driven a car let alone a Vette.
Matt PiccoloDec 24, 2012 And I took full advantage of the time I had it out on the highway... Like anyone would
Matt PiccoloDec 24, 2012 @ Miguel, stfu
@ William, a few cars. And I was lucky enough to take the vette out on the highway for a bit!
William DownsDec 24, 2012 Matt what have u actually driven that's anywhere near a corvettes performance... and not just around town.. talking some serious road time.
Tyler TarboxDec 24, 2012 My dad has a twin turbo Z06 and it's by far the fastest car I've ever been in. He won't let me drive it though...lol
Jimmy CaseDec 24, 2012 I've never driven another car that feels like a corvette. Even a base.
Miguel JimenezDec 24, 2012 @Matt aren't you like 14? How old do you have to be to drive in Canada?
Matt PiccoloDec 24, 2012 I'm not saying it's a bad car in any way!!!!! I'm just saying I disagree with ur statement their
Matt PiccoloDec 24, 2012 @ william, I kinda disagree. When I drove one, it was exactly what I expected. It didn't really change my opinion of the car in any way.
Tim PreisingerDec 24, 2012 I was in a dynoed 895hp C5... Oh what a great time that was
William DownsDec 24, 2012 The corvette is one of those cars u cannot judge until u have actually driven one... and by driven one I actually mean in the driver seat... not riding shotgun, u can't get the corvette expierence unless you have thrown it threw some turn and banged threw the gears.
Ben KnorrDec 24, 2012 @justin. you really need to drive one my friend. Then you wouldn't care what anyone else thought because you would be having too much fun. :0)
Aaron SparksDec 24, 2012 I sort of assumed you meant the 911 by the way since this and a few 911 models are similarly priced. That may not be the car you had in mind though.
Aaron SparksDec 24, 2012 To me the 911 is more of a midlife crisis car than a Vette. I don't see a lot of older men driving Corvettes anymore. In fact, I see more women driving Vettes now than old men. It's not nearly the midlife crisis car it one was.
Justin McLeodDec 24, 2012 I've loved the corvette since I was a little boy n always will, I dont think I would ever want to own one tho, especially for everyday use. I bet its a blast, but it just screams mid life crisis car. If/when I get to that point, Id go Porsche instead
Colby ChurchDec 24, 2012 Paint that crossbar black on the roof, pop in some black headlights and it would be perfectly to my liking, however I'm definitely not complaining about it the way it is. Hell, I would take it in a heartbeat. It's gorgeous. I love the Z06's styling.
Matt PiccoloDec 24, 2012 I would agree with Dylan, rear has always been my fav part. I find the front is too plain, it's not aggressive or anything
Dylan BruderDec 24, 2012 I love the z06 and the back of the vette has always been one of my favorite parts
Paul DickeyDec 24, 2012 Always hated the back of corvettes. Look plain and boring to me.
Colby ChurchDec 24, 2012 Such a sexy rear, I don't care what anyone says differently. Also these look beastly in person. So wide and low to the ground, they just look menacing and incredibly fast.
Yeah but look how well brands like Tesla and Fisker are doing? Government mandates like that are bs.

for SS? I'd take a Z06 Camaro lol
Yeah Tyler you're not helping the Tyler name
@William how can you understand him?
Tyler go do some learning you sound like a ignorant know nothig
The LS7 crate cost $17,000. I don't know about you but that's not affordable.
Now the Camaro has a segment the Mustang wont have. Farewell Boss, you were great
I guess they are making it to compete with the Boss 302 perhaps? Cuz this would be between the SS and ZL1.
So I guess they'll call it like thw
@Randy your an idiot, shut up
They have to put a Z06 engine in it cause that other pussy engine can't keep up with the 5.0 mustang or the Shelby with 650 hp :)
