Lexus Dealer Buys IS F Racecars

Touring cars built for Italy's Superstars series find their way to a dealership in Australia.
Typically dealers help customers choose which cars to buy, but in this case it went the other way around for a Lexus dealership in Brisbane, Australia. Atfer taking an LFA buyer to the Nurburgring, said owner found a trio of IS F racecars for sale in Switzerland. A dealership employee was dispatched to the scene and the cars were purchased. The cars in question were built for the Superstars series in Italy, and pack the same TRD-tuned 4.7-liter V8s with around 600 horsepower as the Daytona Prototypes which Lexus fields in the US.

They've also got Motec engine management, ZF Sachs dampers, H&R springs and AP racing clutches. So why did Lexus of Brisbane buy them? For promotional purposes, it seems. The dealer plans to use them to highlight the brand's F Sport line. It may, however, opt to race them - which would make sense. They are racing cars, after all, and you can bet the dealer paid a pretty penny for these purpose-built touring cars. Whether they could easily be adapted to compete against the Holden Commodore, Ford Falcon, Nissan Altima and upcoming Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG in Australia's V8 Supercars series, however, remains to be seen.
