Lauded as one of the most beautiful cars ever made, the original
Citroen DS remains a collector's item, but none is as highly sought-after as the convertible. Citroen initially declined to make a convertible of the initial DS19, but an independent coachbuilder known as Chapron fulfilled owners' wishes by buying complete sedans from the factory and converting them himself. Eventually Citroen contracted Chapron to build the "decapotables" with factory authorization, and one of those official examples is now up for auction.
