MTM Tunes VW’s 4.2-Liter TDI V8 Engine in the Audi A8

MTM has just released their modification package for the Audi A8’s 4.2 TDI V8 powerplant.

MTM has chosen a German diesel engine for their latest aftermarket program. The package consists of adding significant power to the VW Group's 4.2-liter TDI V8 powerplant. The diesel engine, in addition to coming on the Audi A8, also is available in the VW Touareg and the Audi Q7. Tuning programs for diesel engines are relatively rare, so MTM's latest product absolutely piques the interest. Out of the factory, the Volkswagen diesel puts out 350hp and 591 lb-ft of torque.

Thanks to a remap of the ECU, the German motor can produce and extra 60hp and 95 lb-ft of torque for totals of 410hp and 686 lb-ft. Along with an 'M-Cantronic' tune, the program runs a cool €1,800. MTM is also offering an Audi A8-only 'V-Cantronic' tune in addition to the 'M-Cantronic' job for €2,700. The tweak changes its electronically-limited top speed 20mph higher, allowing for a peak speed of 175mph, up from 155mph.
