GMC Introduces 2013 Terrain Denali Ahead of New York World Premiere

GMC’s popular crossover has been rewarded with the top-level trim.
Following the launch of the Terrain three years ago, GMC's truck division is giving its Terrain range a new lease of life with the 2013 model that is set to make its world debut at the New York Auto Show in April. The Denali trim has been a huge success for GMC and now the brand's most popular crossover will become the eighth model in its lineup to get the upscale trim level. "Denali is growing fast," said Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president of GMC Marketing.

"With seven different models, sales for this brand within a brand increased 79 percent from 2010 to 2011. With this in mind, the decision to create a more-upscale Terrain was an easy one." Signature design cues and high-end details include the chrome front grille, 19-inch alloys (on the V6), satin chrome accents, body color rocker panels and front & rear fascias, new headlamp and taillamp designs, and dual chrome finish exhausts. Terrain Denali's cabin updates include a soft-touch Jet Black leather lining the seats and door inserts with contrast stitching and red accent lighting.

A leather-wrapped steering wheel, smoked mahogany wood trim accents, and illuminated front sill plates complete the new interior, while GMC's new infotainment system with a reconfigurable home screen and programmable power liftgate comes as standard. Leaving the most important news for last, GMC announced a new 3.6-liter V6 engine to replace the 3.0-liter V6, rated at 301hp and 272lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy remains equal to its predecessor rated a 24/17mpg highway/city. A 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is also available producing 182hp and 172lb-ft of torque and is good for 32mpg on the highway.
FWD comes as standard on the Terrain Denali, with AWD an option for both engines. The Denali also boasts a host of advanced safety features such as lane departure and forward collision warnings, as well as blind spot radar, while top tech facilities include Pandora, iPod controls, Bluetooth and IntelliLink. Pricing details are to be released later this year prior to the car hitting the showrooms.
