Maserati GranTurismo Sport Officially Introduced at Geneva

Maserati selected Geneva to unveil the new GranTurismo Sport.

Revealed a few weeks ago, the Maserati GranTurismo Sport has now been officially introduced at the Geneva Motor Show along with some juicy performance figures. Essentially a coupe variant of the elegant GranTurismo Convertible Sport that launched last year, the GranTurismo Sport that replaces the 'S' has a familiar look, which is no bad thing at all. Under the hood a 4.7-liter V8 delivers 453hp and 383lb-ft of torque.

When coupled to the electro-actuated gearbox with MC Shift technology, the GranTurismo sport can sprint from 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 186mph. And when fitted to the standard ZF 6-speed automatic transmission (with MC Auto Shift management software) these figures stand at 4.8 seconds and 185mph. Suspension comes in the form of a Sport Skyhook system that drivers can switch from normal to SPORT mode to aid the car's sports performance and to deliver a smooth, comfortable ride. A new front bumper improves air flow and enhances the appearance of the nose.

As with all of Maserati's most powerful cars, the chrome rident with red accents sits at the center of the grille, while the front light cluster has been redesigned and improved via the addition of DRL LED technology. 20-inch Astro Design alloys house a braking system employing Brembo dual-cast technology with 6-piston brake calipers upfront and 4-piston brake calipers at the rear. Discs are made of cast iron and aluminum, while the calipers are finished in a brand-new oxidized blue that complement the new model's new color named 'Blu Sofisticato. At the rear, restyled, darker light clusters affords the car a sleeker look.

New ergonomically-designed leather front and rear seats offer better support and comfort for longer journeys, while the new design of the rear shell of the front seats affords rear seat passengers more space. EcoChrome grey and Poltrona Frau leather upholstery, aluminum pedals, and a new steering wheel with a flatter rim are other highlights of the sporty interior.
