Ferrari Celebrates Twenty Years in China with 458 Italia Special Edition

The First Ferrari in China was ordered in Beijing in 1992. To mark the milestone, Ferrari will introduce a special edition 458 Italia and inaugurate a permanent brand exhibition.

2012 marks the 20th anniversary of the first ever Ferrari, a 348 TS, being ordered in China. To celebrate, Ferrari will introduce twenty 458 Italia special editions exclusively for the Chinese market. Unique Chinese elements adorn the car's livery, and the special edition wears a brand new color called Marco Polo Red, specially developed for the exclusive car.
Inspiration for the livery comes from the longma theme, an old Chinese idiom meaning "the vigor and spirit of the legendary dragon-horse."

While the dragon stands for courage, passion and success in Chinese culture, Ferrari's prancing horse logo is a symbol of Italy's cultural identity. The standout feature of the car's exterior is the gold dragon on the hood, offset by gold and black livery straps that symbolize a racetrack. Other unique design elements include the gold finish to the rims and the aeroelastic winglets. Inside, there's gold embroidery on the car's head rests, and the engine start button is inscribed with the simplified Chinese characters for 'start,' and a '20th Anniversary Special Edition' plaque is set into the dash.

Ferrari is also celebrating the historic milestone by establishing its first ever permanent brand exhibition outside of Maranello at the Italia Center of Shanghai World Expo Park. It will last for three years and feature some of the best collections from the Maranello Museum, both current and past, as well as specially made images and videos.
