Description: It's been a couple of years, hasn't it? Many were afraid that the Viper would no longer be with us after Chrysler's most recent near-death experience. Fortunately, they were wrong. SRT ...Add Comments58
Thomas MackeyApr 09, 2012 Actually the acr is completely road legal and is a production car.
Fabian PioroApr 07, 2012 Acr is a race car. Come on. Stupid to even put it in the "production model" genre
Thomas MackeyApr 06, 2012 A radical is not a street legal car. It's a race car.
Paul GladmanApr 05, 2012 you do realize that this is just the base viper and not the ACR? the last ACR held the lap record for a while and this will be faster. just imagine what the ACR will do. i wouldnt take it over the lambo or ferrari but definitely over the GTR or ZR1
Thibault LeroyApr 05, 2012 i like this car but somehow i feel like its disconnected from the previous generations :/
Matthew ReindorpApr 05, 2012 Right,
1. There is a small place in everyones heart for an SRT if not then don't call yourself a car fan
2. I was looking for 700hp but you can't have everything
3. I'm a cold hard supercar fan and normally dislike U.S. cars but wow this I like...
Dustin LabitApr 05, 2012 It actually set quite a few records on other tracks.
Bob TurefanntApr 05, 2012 In speed or really anything. Don't get me wrong, I love this car and it truly is amazing.
Bob TurefanntApr 05, 2012 @Patrick, one, you would be wrong that it is the fastest production car to lap the ring. The Radical SR8 LM holds that title. And two, it is "no biggie" anyone can make a car go fast. And off the ring I don't think is really has any world records...
Patrick SchalkApr 04, 2012 Guess Bob doesn't know this is the fastest production vehicle around the ring. No biggie.
Cody MatthewsApr 04, 2012 I see, Dan is from England. The place of bad teeth and American car hating. He wouldn't approve of the viper if it held ever record in the world.
John SerelyApr 04, 2012 @mikey yea I think I remember which a reticle your talking about, but there is over 250 on the first 4 pages alone. I did not add up the rest of the pages, but by quickly looking at the rest of the numbers, I think this is close or at 400 comments
Bob TurefanntApr 04, 2012 @chad, I do agree that this is awesome car but there are cars with more impressive engines. to call this an engineering masterpiece would do injustice to other more impressive cars.
Patrick SchalkApr 04, 2012 Hahahaha Dan I don't think you can call anything gay based on your hair and sunglasses.
Abraham MendozaApr 04, 2012 Come on Dan, that's the best you could do? Huh, guess that reflects how good the car is. No fault at all.
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 A GT-R article got up to +300 comments.
Jackson MichaelApr 04, 2012 And read some of Dan J's comments. I honestly think he can't afford them and feels jealous.
Jackson MichaelApr 04, 2012 This looks like it will carry on the tradition of insanity passed on by it's predecessors. Git pumped.
John SerelyApr 04, 2012 BTW I would definitely take this over a ZR1 or a GTR any day
John SerelyApr 04, 2012 Wow, I've been using this app almost since it came out (I have not commented for nearly that long though) and I don't remember any article that has gotten more comments than this one. Almost 250 comments on the first 4 pages alone. Way to go guys!
Dan RatherApr 04, 2012 Hey dont get mad at Dan he's just pissed because where he's from cars are tax and insured at such high rates that the best car he can afford is 1.6 diesel Skoda.
Clint EdwardsApr 04, 2012 And considering that 95% of all comments on this article have been overwhelmingly positive, I'd say plenty of people would want this "pile of yank crap"
No PistonsApr 04, 2012 Hahaha god the stupidity is getting out of control!! The cancer is almost terminal.
@dan j
Why don't you go check out the lap times for the ACR and I don't know maybe some research, open a book and learn of its racing Dominance.
Justin RouthApr 04, 2012 Hahaha Dan isnt even worth replying to. Too many ignorant people on here. I love the people talking smack especially when the Viper already runs the ring. I cant wait till this one goes around so these idiots can quit with all the bs
Clint EdwardsApr 04, 2012 Oh look, another attention whore. Just what we need
Alex LeuApr 04, 2012 You never know..640hp car...girl with big chest...
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 @Steven who buys car just to get girls... You have no game bro.
Dan J TreshamApr 04, 2012 Another massively GAY car from the states. Who in there right might would buy this pile of yank crap. comments pls?
Dan RatherApr 04, 2012 @ Steven that's total BS you'd be at 3rd base before you could even take the keys out of the ignition in a viper.
Steven WilsonApr 04, 2012 Nice car but one problem:
Man: "Hello ladies, I drive a Viper".
Woman: "a what?"
Man: "An SRT"
Woman: "a what?"
Man: "A Chrysler product"
Woman: "Get Lost"
Give me a Porsche.
Clint EdwardsApr 04, 2012 @Patrick what gets me is how the same guy can call 650hp weak but call a 200hp 4 cylinder an absolute beast
No PistonsApr 04, 2012 @pat
Agreed
Why do most gt3-1 race cars have large displacement yet around 500hp? Once you find out why you will realize why this is 8L at 600+hp
Kevin RehbockApr 04, 2012 First Robbie, you can turn off the TCS. Second, they needed to keep the power suitable enough for street driving. That V10 can make a hell of a lot more power and potential buyers wouldn't be able to handle it.
Jon AshleyApr 04, 2012 Yes the viper has a big engine, but theres no other engine like it. Such unique sound and performance.
Patrick SchalkApr 04, 2012 I love the HP per Liter argument. Cracks me up so much.
Robbie MitchellApr 04, 2012 While I love this car it's not the same machine it once was. The name dodge is gone. All the fancy traction control, abs, and other crap is added. Great car just not as good as its predecessors.
Thomas MackeyApr 04, 2012 You do realize this thing beats the "engineering masterpieces" by miles right? Fancy isn't always better. This thing is a monster. And it's going to keep giving the beat down to the much more expensive competitor.
rmv4646Apr 04, 2012 looks great. not even close to an engineering masterpiece...100hp per liter is easily achievable now. srt has a long way to go.
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 And like William said the power band on these engines are amazing!
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 I'm sure cause of the cafe standards SRT isn't aloud to go over a hp limit.
Jacob BakerApr 04, 2012 Amazing, im scared of what the ACR and ACR-X are going to do. This is perfection. Well done SRT.
William DownsApr 04, 2012 and high liter to HP is so it dosent just eat tires up, it makes the power bands actually useable.. that's why ft cars have big liter engine but usually under 500 HP... its all about the curves
William DownsApr 04, 2012 for how good the viper is it don't need more power, I drove an old one and my god what a ride all the torque and no stupid computer to tell it not to kill u. amazing ride and a great expierence... hopefully this one won't let us down
Michael KozlowskiApr 04, 2012 @ Michael. Nooo I know the torque is crazy good, most of any n/a engine. But the hp side I feel is a little on the lower end. I was just hoping for more around 700hp, especially with such a massive engine. But I'm still quite content with 640.
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 Ya and It also weighs less then pagani's 7.3L V12, Lamborhgini's 6.5L V12, and Bugatti's 8.0L W16 so...
Bob TurefanntApr 04, 2012 The liter to BHP is a little low to be a masterpiece.
Bob TurefanntApr 04, 2012 Engineering masterpiece? Really good but not a masterpiece.
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 @Michael my bad the ZR1 is supercharged oops...anyways you're right.
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 @Michael the ZR1 has 604lbft
Michael Emery SmithApr 04, 2012 @ Michael. It has the highest torque output of any naturally aspirated stock road car. More than enough power!
Abraham MendozaApr 04, 2012 Because Dodge didn't want FIAT to be totally in charge of the development of the Viper, so they split up into two part, with subsequent brands. The part that needed saving (Chrysler, Dodge) and the part Chrysler wanted total control of (Ram Trucks and SRT).
Thibault LeroyApr 04, 2012 wait why is it not a dodge viper?
Phillip HolbrookApr 04, 2012 About time I was reading about about this on another website about noon today.
Ayrton van der WesthuizenApr 04, 2012 I have to keep reminding myself that its not called a dodge viper, its an SRT viper, still just love it
Dylan BruderApr 04, 2012 Watched the unveiling video live it was awesome gave me sweaty palms and I'm a vette fan the viper deserves it's place though glad to see it back
Thomas MackeyApr 04, 2012 It held the lap record with 40 less hp. Just imagine what it will do with all that tech and 40 more hp and 600 ft lbs.
Michael KozlowskiApr 04, 2012 Would have liked to see some more power but I'm still pleased with that amount.
Pompey PaulApr 05, 2012 I think it looks like a devil car, I like it :)
Jason ReimannApr 05, 2012 Looks kinda like an F12 berlinetta in the front. I think dodge could do better :(
Rami WilsonApr 05, 2012 Mic Wong should be Mcwrong. Sounds like a new tofu burger at Mcdonalds!
Rami WilsonApr 05, 2012 It has already been to the track you won't be disappointed. Go to DriveSRT.com and watch the video. The car is more powerful. Lighter more structural rigidity and more positive feeling steering. All this for the car that holds the Nurburgring record!
Jimmy BartolottaApr 05, 2012 It's not bad in my opinion. Sure the taillights could use a little change, but they're bearable. To me, I don't really like the front end. I think the headlights and grill/bumper don't look right. Don't get me wrong they fit the lines, but it just isn't that Viper look. I guess it will grow on me eventually though.
Lou GuerreroApr 05, 2012 I'm a Viper guy and so far so good but I need a track day with ZR1, GT-R and 458 before I can sing its praises. If I know the Viper team the way I think I know them, I don't think I'll be disappointed.
Mic WongApr 05, 2012 The Viper, being a few US cars that I like, should look cooler than this...
Tomas FranquelliApr 05, 2012 I'm glad they didn't change it. its still ugly and I won't like it by mistake. :)
Axel LarssonApr 05, 2012 I think it looks great. I love the side exhaust. My only issue is that I feel like it needs more of a rear fender-flare. The rear quarter-panel looks too flat. But I'd still gladly own one!
Jay JammageApr 04, 2012 Don't like the corvette (callaway) style front end & headlights. Rest of it looks pretty gnarly for an American car
Rami WilsonApr 04, 2012 The only cars made with more horsepower per pound are the Bugatti Veyron and Ferrari F12berlinetta rare air especially since the Bugatti is turbo and the both cost 5 to 7 times as much.
Jack SittauerApr 04, 2012 Wow.... Awesome can't wait to drive it in forza! Lol
Matt MoellerApr 04, 2012 Perfect!!!! Good job SRT Group!!
Rami WilsonApr 04, 2012 The best way to make high horse and high torque from a naturally aspirated engine. Smaller displcement OHC engines make good horse but no torque unless externally pressurized.
Rami WilsonApr 04, 2012 You can't just look at hp per L. You have to look at ft/lbs of tq, valves per cyl. And wether or not it's naturally aspirated or pressurized externally. Torque gets you moving. Horsepower keeps you moving. large displacement OHV engines are........
Riender John HoolsemaApr 04, 2012 Now now... After 300c. Jeeps and now this gorgeous viper.... Breathtaking... Well done Chrysler... Mad respect! Love the curve and the looks of it
Taggart WilberApr 04, 2012 They should have kept the old headlights, I don't like the new ones
Carlton SalmonApr 04, 2012 I can see hints of TVR Cerbera in this shot. Lovely looking car though and they've done a good job of both keeping it looking like a Viper whilst making it look fresh and modern.
Mark JuirisApr 04, 2012 All rise & bow your heads.
Nick SmithApr 04, 2012 I like the aggressive front end
Jackson MichaelApr 04, 2012 I'm an American, but I don't like most American cars. This, however, is epicness to the extreme.
Matthew McKernanApr 04, 2012 I'm not a big fan of american cars but I love the viper for some weird reason, and this looks amazing. I Would have this over a ZR1 any day.
Dylan BruderApr 04, 2012 Open minded
@dan I was just trying to rattle matt some the 86 was a joint project car between both and I'm sure it's a blast ive never gotten to see one but anyways enough of that enjoy the new viper!
Dylan BruderApr 04, 2012 @matt mainly all I was doin was trying to see what you'd say every article that I see that isnt an import you trash it I just feel you should try and have a more open mind to cars to an extent not that I'm saying you need to love them just be more
Kenneth WilliamsApr 04, 2012 I'm not keen on the hood yet but the rest is good. The hood will grow on me.
Zach SullivanApr 04, 2012 And I just saw the racing version looks kinda like one of the old callaways
Zach SullivanApr 04, 2012 I see a Mercedes sls and a Ferrari California mix
Jon AshleyApr 04, 2012 other than the busy headlights, it looks great. looks more like the 1997 GTS.
Dan RatherApr 04, 2012 @Tony the SLKs headlights are far more square than this. What creases in the front? Do you mean the vents in the front for the oil coolers and brakes? Or the hood vents for cooling and better air flow through the hood? Those aren't gimmicks
Clint EdwardsApr 04, 2012 Not even gonna try to comprehend that previous statement
ImminentvictoryApr 04, 2012 All american with closest in appearance/proportions being the late panoz esperante! WINNING!
Will PetersApr 04, 2012 American design, America made, American car
Abraham MendozaApr 04, 2012 Tony, this looks nothing like any car you just compared it to. I see no Aston, no Merc, nothing. It looks...Viper.
Tony MarroApr 04, 2012 @dan. I should have said SLK headlights, I was trying to show viper a little more respect. Either way they look too feminine in that vertical form. But i still say the front is unoriginal with all the gimmicky creases.
Isaac RezkallaApr 04, 2012 @colby this viper kills the vette in looks they didn't fail they over succeeded this looks amazing
Dan RatherApr 04, 2012 and the second generation MR2.
Dan RatherApr 04, 2012 no good signs of it ever happening. With the exception of LFA and to some extent the IS-F(Still isn't as good as the M3) Toyota hasn't really made sporty cars in recent years which is a shame because they used to make such great cars like the Supra
Colby ChurchApr 04, 2012 I could've done better. Really. I'm happy to see the viper fail in appearance though. More room for the Corvette to shine. :)
Dan RatherApr 04, 2012 @Dylan... What's your point? It's well known that the 86 was engineered almost entirely by Subaru with exception of the fuel injection system. There have been rumors of Toyota coming out with a new supra since it ended production and there are still
Dan RatherApr 04, 2012 confused with an Aston Martin. I would also suggest you look at an SLS again the headlights are a totally different shape than these.
Dan RatherApr 04, 2012 @Tony what are you talking about the only similarity that you said is the tail lights. Btw that grill has been part of dodges design language for sometime now if anyone copied that it would be Toyota. Are you honestly trying to say you'd get this
Isaac RezkallaApr 04, 2012 If this is the coupe i wonder what the acr specs and look would be
Cody MatthewsApr 04, 2012 I'm sorry but I can't get over the grill. I loved that part so much!
Tony MarroApr 04, 2012 What is that... An M-B SLS (headlights), a scion fr-s (grille), or an Aston Martin (tail lights)? Oh it's a viper! Shouldn't a viper look nothing else on the road, not everything else on the road? Fail.
Matt PiccoloApr 04, 2012 @ Dylan... What's ur point, Toyota just came out with a sports car, their are roomers of a new supra... And Lexus has the lfa ( yea I know it's over priced) and they have the new concept thats outta this world nice!! So I bet of they make 1, well ya.
rockstarTcApr 04, 2012 Wow hands down this looks better than any car chevy has made. This looks so aggressive, this is why dodge is the best domestic company!!!
Mike ConradApr 04, 2012 Really glad it doesn't look American
Bob TurefanntApr 04, 2012 Wow this looks really good! I'm glad to see that the viper is going to
Be back on the roads and looking better then ever.
Rami WilsonApr 04, 2012 My new second favorite car. Watched on driveSRT today, unbelievable. '96-'02 GTS coupe with Ferrari flair! Nurburgring lookout. Make mine Blue with white stripes red and black interior and a Dodge badge!
Pablo HerasmeApr 04, 2012 *Ferrari* btw this is a-MAZING
Pablo HerasmeApr 04, 2012 Looks like something would build
Domi BsaibesApr 04, 2012 Sorry chevy fans but this beats the vette in every single aspect! Very nice job dodge
Clint EdwardsApr 04, 2012 I want this in the worst way
Abraham MendozaApr 04, 2012 Your not a fan of the Dodge Viper, your a fan of the SRT Viper, so its okay.
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 Wow, I've been waiting for this all month and I got to say I wasn't let down! As for Matt, wow big surprise he doesn't like another American car.
Zachary FixApr 04, 2012 I didn't think it was possible but they did it they made the viper even better looking!!!
And I love it
John RaymondApr 04, 2012 The new supra will look dated
Dylan BruderApr 04, 2012 Hey Matt lets compare it to the new supra since you don't like it oh wait a minute..........
quadrophineApr 04, 2012 sexy as Hell holy crap I love it
Matt PiccoloApr 04, 2012 And redid the front and back, but I hate the new rear so yea... As honestly, it looks like they transferred the agera's lights over to their car!! Like common
Matt PiccoloApr 04, 2012 @ Paul, they do a bit, but they keep the overall shape, and front lights, but add different lines as curves, tail lights etc... This to me is a new front, identical sides. And ugly rear... So pretty much they kept 1/3 things identical, the sides
Ben ArendsApr 04, 2012 Glad to see the double bubble roof!
Also, pretty cool that they positioned the motor to the passenger side to create perfect balance with just one driver. The 49.5/50.5 weight distribution is gonna be a killer. Can't wait to see lap times!
Paul DickeyApr 04, 2012 If you think this looks aged I wonder what you think about every new 911 that comes out
Matt PiccoloApr 04, 2012 And they soooo stole those lights from the Agera r... Their almost identical!!!! :(
Matt PiccoloApr 04, 2012 It's nice but it looks aged... The fronts new and I like it but the sides and everything from the door back looks so old... It didn't change enough
Avery WilliamsApr 04, 2012 Wow!!!!!!!!!! It looks menacingly!!!!
Patrick SchalkApr 04, 2012 My only complaint is the splitter. Other than that, HOLY CRAP!
Rick LApr 04, 2012 I'm impressed! Usually dodge puts crap out but this looks awesome. They are stepping there game up.
Rudolf DasslerApr 04, 2012 Looks angry, looks great... My new favourite car from the states, except for the GT40..
Matthew FentonApr 04, 2012 Wow that looks amazing! 
Redge DiakitéApr 04, 2012 If you look the lights are like the Koenigsegg Agera but it's Wonderful!!!!
Chris PenzaApr 04, 2012 The front really has an f12 berlinetta evil look. I love it
Dillon DixonApr 04, 2012 Overall, I really like it. I was a bit worried. But they pulled it off!
Todd RandallApr 04, 2012 I'm utterly disappointed! Take this monster to Jason Castriota to be reskinned!
Kevin RehbockApr 04, 2012 If this design was inspired by a naked woman on a beach, I must meet this woman.
William DownsApr 04, 2012 thing looks amazing only parts I think should have changed are the grill because it dosent fit the car and looks horrible and I only say the headlights cause it gives it a vette look.. but still amazing
Thomas MackeyApr 04, 2012 That hood is perfect just the way it is. SEX is what this car says. Can't wait to see it destroy just about everything on the road. And for a fraction of the cost.
Alex LeuApr 04, 2012 Are you kidding me? Viper and toned down do not go together
Jack HowardApr 04, 2012 I think the hood needs to be toned down a little

Fabian PioroApr 07, 2012 Lmfao. What. 16.4 means 4 turbos and a5.7 has 7?!?! Soooo lost dude
Adam SampsonApr 05, 2012 Just a quick note as this comes up a lot and is the main thing that bothers me, OHV motors don't make more torque than OHC. The viper makes huge torque but that is down to its large capacity, and specifically large piston size.
Cho DanApr 05, 2012 @Bruce, The Bugatti Veyron is named after French racing driver Pierre Veyron, who won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939 while racing for the original Bugatti company. The 16.4 refers to 16 cylinders and 4 turbochargers. The engine is a 8.0 liter.
David HarrisApr 05, 2012 It's a 16 cylinder with 8 liters and true it would make the car heavy
Abraham MendozaApr 05, 2012 Bruce, a 16.4 litre engine is as big as a bus. You can't be serious.
Aaron AbelyApr 05, 2012 Bruce, you're wrong. The veyron motor is a 8.0L(aka 488 Ci or cubic inches this is the size of the motor) W16 that is quad turbocharged. The 16.4 is Bugatti marketing the cylinder count and 4 turbos. Usually yes the 1.x or 3.x is size. But not here.
Bruce MalpicaApr 05, 2012 You seriously can't be this dumb like seriously. I'm not being sarcastic. 16.4 is the size. Yeah it's a 16 cylinder and has 4 turbos but it's the size of the engine not the "description". So what you're saying that a 1.8l car has 1 cylinder and 8 turbos? Think about it look it up. I know I'm right and so does smart people who know about cars.
Mikey JimenezApr 05, 2012 OHV engines: less parts, slower moving parts, compact, light weight, lower center of gravity (helps handling) compared to SOHC and DOHC, usually a great amount of torque, and parts are cheap. Just a few great things that OHV motors offer.
Lou GuerreroApr 05, 2012 And the reason for pushrods still is clearly for producing mountains of torque. At LeMans the GTS-Rs were unrivaled accelerating out of corners. It WORKS.
Lou GuerreroApr 05, 2012 Thats like saying, "Lamborghini is just a tractor company." Yes, V10 has humble roots but the original V10 was developed in conjunction with Lamborghini to make it suitable for this car. The only problem was that it used to sit too high in the bay
Adam SampsonApr 05, 2012 Hmmm so this 'engineering masterpiece' is still a tarted up truck engine. Why you would bother with sodium filled valves but still leave it with pushrod actuation I will never know?
Dan RatherApr 04, 2012 I usually say V8 because people usually don't know what VR type engine is. Even car magazines with sometimes call a vr6 a v6.
Dan RatherApr 04, 2012 Alright I'll call them VR8's sharing a crank does that work for you?
Kevin RehbockApr 04, 2012 Two V8s sharing one crank is still a V16. Learn what a W-configuration is. Every pair of cylinders in the Veyron is staggered at a smaller angle so it can be packaged more tightly. A real V16 would be seriously long.
Knox FerraroApr 04, 2012 Lobes WERE reworked. CarBuzz, you need to find a new editor. This shit is embarrassing.
Dan RatherApr 04, 2012 Holy crap I need to sleep the Veyron is definitely 8.0L consisting of two 4.0L V-8s making it a w16.
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 @Bruce 16 cylinders 4 turbos you should really look it up cause you're making your self look really dumb.
Dan RatherApr 04, 2012 car that's a big deal because heat soak essentially causes you to lose power. A turbo system would add weight to the front of the car upsetting the balance. A NA car will usually have a smoother power delivery which makes the car more predictable.
Dan RatherApr 04, 2012 As far as turbo's while they do add a significant amount of power they also reduce engine responsiveness causing delay in power delivery because the turbo maintain boost in order to make that power. Turbos are also more prone to heat soak on a track
Dan RatherApr 04, 2012 Oh wow I feel like carbuzz commentary has hit a new low. People don't how engine displacement is written. 16.4L definitely stands for 16.4 liters
Bruce MalpicaApr 04, 2012 You seriously think 16.4 on the veyron refers to that? How about 2.0 3.6 on the gtr 8.4 on the viper? 8 cylinders 4 turbos?
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 I stand corrected in 2 sentences.
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 @Bruce haha wow I never seen so much ignorance in one sentence!
Abraham MendozaApr 04, 2012 Bruce, I sure hope that's sarcasm. I'll assume it is then...
Jon AshleyApr 04, 2012 Thanks william! Anyone who wants to talk bad about engines should at least have the knowledge to back it up!
Bruce MalpicaApr 04, 2012 Idiot veyron is a 16.4 because it's 2 8.2liter v8 put together. Things you shouldn't say in a car app.
William DownsApr 04, 2012 yea veyron is an 8.0. 16.4 reffers to its 16 cylinders and 4 turbos and everyone complaining about the engine size u obviously know nothing about engines except they make a car move
Thomas MackeyApr 04, 2012 Yes you can make a 4banger and turbo it up to 640 but is it reliable? How's your power and torque curves? I can answer that for you....they are shit. Big displacement = easy and reliable. Plus your power comes right away. And don't even suggest a tt v6 in a viper. That is just wrong.
Abraham MendozaApr 04, 2012 Damnit Curtis, the Veyron carries an 8.0 w16. The Bugatti Royale carried a 12 litre engine, and it had the largest engine in a production car.
Alan Bradford CassellApr 04, 2012 Lame! 640hp from 8.4 liters? Sweet van engine. Junk
Kyle AndersonApr 04, 2012 @Michael, 640 hp and 600 lb ft of torque from a ((N/A)) car is pretty impressive no matter who you are, I prefer N/A over turbo's anyway because it's pure, raw power without a crutch like a TT setup.
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 Chevy makes a 632 C.I, I think around 12 liters or something like that
rockstarTcApr 04, 2012 Haha 16.4 liter that would be one big ass engine
Cody FullertonApr 04, 2012 Anyone can turbo a car and get more power. Having that much power from an NA engine is very impressive.
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 Really Curtis needs to do some research, Dylan is right.
Dylan BruderApr 04, 2012 This engine is for torque and alot of it and the 16.4 is cylinder count and number of turbos respectively this engine is much less peaky then a blown smaller displacement engine
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 @Carlos except this engine weighs about 200lbs less. This 8L OHV engine probably weighs less than most performance DOHC so I don't why you guys are complaining. The displacement might be big but the engine is really compact.
Carlos Ernesto GarciaApr 04, 2012 Thats a really big engine i mean the veyrons an 8L if i remember correctly
Phillip HolbrookApr 04, 2012 I guess Ferraris should use a TT 4 cylinder too huh?
Clint EdwardsApr 04, 2012 Here we go, one of those guys again
Abraham MendozaApr 04, 2012 Hmm, that's some narrow minded thinking right there.
No PistonsApr 04, 2012 Someone needs to do a little research
Paul DickeyApr 04, 2012 You obviously know nothing about the viper. Or dodge for that matter.
Michael BeachApr 04, 2012 The only thing that would make this engine worth having is a huge pair of TT's
Michael BeachApr 04, 2012 An 8.? Liter engine that only makes 640 horsepower nowadays is dumb. Forced induction in a smaller engine would give the same (or more) power with much less weight up front. Typical Dodge move..
Forrest WoodApr 04, 2012 I thought that it was suppose to be an 8.7

Ray SmaglickApr 05, 2012 good for u it was a legit question
with all the nannies on cars these days it wouldn't shock me at all
Ray SmaglickApr 05, 2012 and the cock suck award goes to p_r_n_d!
Timothy HookerApr 05, 2012 I'm pretty sure the new kia optima has the most n/a torque but I'llrecheck my sources to be sure..that salesman sounded pretty sure though
Kyle AndersonApr 05, 2012 @Alex, haha I don't think so but maybe?
P_R_N_DApr 05, 2012 ...and the DFA goes to.... Ray Smaglick!
Dylan BruderApr 05, 2012 Yes it stays off if you switch it off and u can while driving as long as its under 25 mph you just can't go over that and try to switch it off is all Ralph Gilles said it was fully defeatable
Ray SmaglickApr 04, 2012 will stability control stay off over 25 mph if engaged under 25? or does it kick on at 26?
Alex LeuApr 04, 2012 Are you in any way related to ucla basketball recruit Kyle Anderson? Haha
Kyle AndersonApr 04, 2012 Yeah it definitely has the most torque of any N/A car, second on the list to this is the 1999 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR. Just in case someone wanted to know.
Zack HerzerApr 04, 2012 "too complicated" that's what they said about the original one too, and the next. And the next.
Cody MatthewsApr 04, 2012 @rockstarTC you just have to do that to turn it off, then you can floor it and do what ever you want.
rockstarTcApr 04, 2012 seriously?! Who would honestly drive around under 25mph in this car??
Michael Emery SmithApr 04, 2012 And Aaron is right. It not the most hp it's the most torque. It's on TG's website.
Michael Emery SmithApr 04, 2012 @ Jason. Your a tool! Read! It's just 25 Ibs off the engine. In total they shaved off about 120 Ibs.
Abraham MendozaApr 04, 2012 He said torque, and he's probably right.
Brandon CarrApr 04, 2012 Aston Martin one-77 had the most powerful N/A engine in the world
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 @Aaron I don't think this puts the most NA hp.
Aaron CrispApr 04, 2012 @Jason - This engine is legendary, puts out more torque than any NA engine.
Zachary SindelarApr 04, 2012 I hope they figure out that direct injection issue, it would really turn up this beast! I'm not complaining.
Jason BrowerApr 04, 2012 @ Jason, that's a mighty big claim to throw at the viper. That engine is legendary in it's torque delivery and it propelled this car to one of the fastest nurburgring times ever.
Ayrton van der WesthuizenApr 04, 2012 yep a true muscle car: the only available transmission is a six speed manual, awesome
Jason JohnsonApr 04, 2012 To complicated? What the hell? It's not like this technology hasn't been out for years! Even after all that time they can only shed 25 lbs and nothing new comes of this car? What a load of crap and everything Dodge makes is crap!
Chris PenzaApr 04, 2012 I'm guessing the top speed will be higher than 206, I say about 210
Matthew ReindorpApr 06, 2012 Yep, just look at the second half of the next pic (iPhone and iPod users) and i thought it actually was a TVR speed 12... Because I didnt look at the first half
Mathew Caleb StanfieldApr 06, 2012 Just slap a TVR badge on this ugly piece and no one will be able to tell the difference
Erik SchererApr 05, 2012 Looks like an. Aston from the back.
Dave StewartApr 05, 2012 I'm tired of people talking down you
Didn't make
It they want it to resemble
Previous generation vipers looks good go ford..or Chevy... Wait Chryslerade this? Good job!
Alanda BurroughsApr 05, 2012 Wow! It looks fantastic from behind. I never liked the rear of the previous model.
Colin DzendoletApr 05, 2012 finally emptied the rear taillights parts bin, love the new back end
Matthew ReindorpApr 05, 2012 I'm not! I'm loving this car from every single angle... I really wanted to hate it because I don't like U.S. Cars but I can't.. It's wonderful!
Tomas FranquelliApr 05, 2012 Taking notes from Porsche as far as originality goes, I see. rear designed with tracing paper, front designed...by accident? I know I'm being a jerk, but they really hyped this redesign, and I'm having trouble seeing it paying off.
Chayton GarverickApr 05, 2012 Eww... I am definitely not a fan of the grey housings
Daniel C CoțaApr 05, 2012 Although some of the lines are almost a direct copy of the original it looks good, and from this angle, spectacular.
Alex LeuApr 04, 2012 Someone probably already said this but I don't wanna scroll down..Aston Martin rear?
Dan RatherApr 04, 2012 @Alan you realize this weighs about the same as a base c6 corvette right? It also weighs less than the similarly powered ZR1. This car is in no way a behemoth
No PistonsApr 04, 2012 Go ahead and have the slower car, lap times don't lie
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 I can't choose the Corvette over this and vise versa. In the end us GM and Mopar guy only care about 6 things, OHV, low end torque, 6 speed manuals, big displacement, bang for your buck, and low pitch rumble! so let's all get along.
Colby ChurchApr 04, 2012 I like the c6 zr1 better than this. :)
Jimmy WilliamsApr 04, 2012 Seriously, this might be the best looking car of all time.
Phillip HolbrookApr 04, 2012 Love how the the lights and license plate area meet to look like a snakes eyes and mouth
Paul LissonaApr 04, 2012 Looks really good all around for what it's supposed to be.
Bijan JahanpanahApr 04, 2012 There is no rear exhaust because it has a side exaust
Thomas MackeyApr 04, 2012 Pure evil. The original American Supercar is back!
Justin StoerpApr 04, 2012 Not sure about the back but I'm loving the front
Kevin RehbockApr 04, 2012 It's got the profile of the Gen II GTS. They nailed it with this design
Chris PenzaApr 04, 2012 I think the back should be all red. And does anyone else think the taillights look like the s5's?
Tara FitriaApr 04, 2012 Great looking car, I see sort of a Ferrariness in the front and hints of Aston Martin in the rear, best looking viper yet, again great looking car.
Dillon DixonApr 04, 2012 Isn't the back piece carbon fiber though? It doesn't bother me if it is a carbon fiber finish.
Thomas MackeyApr 04, 2012 Are you kidding? This is the best part. Nothing was better looking than a 97 gts r and this screams that design. I am in love.
Brandon LargentApr 04, 2012 Thought they did a great job until I seen this view. Kinda drop the ball there.
Malachi MonteiroApr 04, 2012 That rear panel that is a different color looks cheap, that's my only beeswax with its design. They also should have used a better color for reveal.

Thomas MackeyApr 06, 2012 @lorenzo: just like a corvette!? What mental hospital did you say you are currently at? You obviously know absolutely nothing about cars. The viper claimed to hold the Fastest lap. Look it up. The zonda doesn't hold it either. Please do some research before opening your mouth.
@stalin: then what do you consider good? The old viper beat everything. What makes you think ths won't?
@Alan this will be...
Jerry ColeApr 06, 2012 And the Zonda R isn't in the same class as the viper. So that's nor a comparison....
Jerry ColeApr 06, 2012 Actually Lorenzo, they have the video on here of the 2010 Viper ACR-X clocking in at 7:03 around the Nürburgring.
Wildabeast JenkinsApr 05, 2012 Who the hell produced that boring video?! It's a great car, but come on. Spend some money on a quality video debut.
Dylan ArmsApr 05, 2012 Good lord that thing sounded nasty at startup. And the 3rd brake light viper emblem is just cool as hell
Lorenzo PaganoApr 05, 2012 @imminevictory the arc viper isn't even close to having the fastest lap time at the nurburgring, try looking up the Zonda R. It did it in 6:47 your viper did it in 7:14 which is a lot SLOWER
Bill BaileyApr 05, 2012 An american car made of carbon fibre? Wow, probably still gunna handle like a complete pig tho
Lorenzo PaganoApr 04, 2012 The viper is just a corvette with a bigger engine making the same power and more outrageous styling. It would be better if they used all that engines potential.
Bob TurefanntApr 04, 2012 This is by far my favorite American sports car. The corvette doesn't even come close.
Garrett SerranoApr 04, 2012 I actually thought at dirt glance it looked like the new f12 berlinetta
Clint EdwardsApr 04, 2012 Was really hoping to see some more "spirited" driving. Damnit, I wanna hear that thing get wrung out
August BurrichterApr 04, 2012 Ah, That's alright, 8.4 is still great, especially since it has 640hp now stock, when the ACR had 600hp, can't wait to see the ACR version of this
Jerrod SwensonApr 04, 2012 The audio sounds like they were dragging shovels down a gravel road.
Abraham MendozaApr 04, 2012 You can turn off the TC and the SC so yeah, you could still kill yourself in this thing.
Kevin CallejasApr 04, 2012 Wow I like it but old viper you will be missed with your everlasting sliding around.
Jhoan Koolin DelimaApr 04, 2012 The headlights look a lot alike to most of these supercars around, besides that the car looks good
Cameron RagsdaleApr 04, 2012 The 8.7 was a rumor they stuck with the 8.4
August BurrichterApr 04, 2012 The new viper has a 8.7L engine by the way.
Andrew HossannApr 04, 2012 It's just as bad as the i8 videos
Jason JohnsonApr 04, 2012 WTF? You relaunch the Dodge viper and the loudest thing in the clip in the road noise and the birds? This would be better fitting for an EV that hugs the polar bears!
Paul DickeyApr 04, 2012 What car guy or girl for that matter complains about a 8.4L v10 engine?
Nick SchneeApr 04, 2012 Wow... This is so out of the world amazing... Fun Fact: I was dizzy all day and now I'm fine after watching this video! :D
Thomas MackeyApr 04, 2012 Exactly what is wrong with a 8.4 liter engine??????
Nick PietropaoloApr 04, 2012 I think it looks a lot like a callaway c12 from the front
Chris PenzaApr 04, 2012 The video is so quiet. I turned up my iPod all the way and muted by tv, but I could still barely hear it

Lou GuerreroApr 05, 2012 Those fires were caused by an adhesive compound in the manufacturing and the cars were recalled. It would be embarrassing if SRT followed suit.
Adam SampsonApr 05, 2012 Hope we don't have any ferrari style engine fires. Cos a Mg firewall will near enough explode under high temperatures.
Aaron AbelyApr 04, 2012 It is technically a front engine. However if you take into account how far back the engine sits in relation to the front axle it's truly a front /midship which translates to the higher rear weight bias. Plus diff and tank and 355s
Kenneth WilliamsApr 04, 2012 This one is mostly in the rear because of the materials they made the front out off
Kenneth WilliamsApr 04, 2012 Yea those things may be true but that's not always the reason for more weight in the rear. If you look at most regular cars weight balance it's mostly front.
Jon AshleyApr 04, 2012 first, RWD, I would think they put the gas tank in back. Also the suspension components, differential lighter engine...
Zack HerzerApr 04, 2012 Front engine... Heavier back???
Chris BjorgolfssonApr 04, 2012 In case anybody is wondering the old curb weight was 3460 and 3408 or the ACR. All in all power to weight ratio is 10% better than the old base model, 8.5% better than the ACR.
Thomas MackeyApr 04, 2012 The sound this thing makes is glorious!!!
Dale FredriksApr 05, 2012 I have a couple minor problems with this design. One, the 90's GTS Viper style side vent. Two: the F12-esque styling overall. And three, the front overhangs which is a little too rounded. Luckily, I will easily overlook these minor faults, because
Lou GuerreroApr 05, 2012 It almost has cartoonish dimensions. Super low, loooong hood with short cabin. Reminds me of old race cars and sports cars of the 20s.
Andrew GrimmApr 05, 2012 There is something called downloadable content ya know? A new Forza pretty much comes out every 2 years or so. This will be coming to FM4.
Chayton GarverickApr 05, 2012 @Zach Sullivan you mean five, right? Forza Motorsport four came out last year.
Tanner MiddletonApr 04, 2012 c16* sorry, either way you know what i was talking about cause callaway only made like one car. lol
Jackson MichaelApr 04, 2012 It looks nothing like the F12, unless you consider being aerodynamic a similarity
Keenan CasteelApr 04, 2012 I hate to compare a car's looks to another car's but I can't help but think of the new F12 Berlinetta when I see the front. Not sure if the Fiat connection has anything to do with it... Love it though! Best looking American car, maybe ever...
Zach SullivanApr 04, 2012 And I wonder if that's an actual racing livery or if it's just a design that was put on for it's release cuz I think it would be cool to see turn 10 and Microsoft actually sponsoring a race team
Zach SullivanApr 04, 2012 Sweet it has a Forza logo guess that means it's comin to fm4
Abraham MendozaApr 04, 2012 A Callaway C7. Hmmm, I didn't think those existed.
Tanner MiddletonApr 04, 2012 if it looks like anything it looks like a callaway c7
Fred AnidemApr 04, 2012 omg its so long! effin limo (thats what she said... yeaa yeaaa) it didnt look that long in the previous pic. or is that jus hiw it came out after the pic? pretty sure its the second one.
Jason LevyApr 04, 2012 Im only going to say this this one time because i usually love racing bodies but this is the one car that looks amazing stock!!!! Good job Dodge give the designer a raise
Judah LindvallApr 04, 2012 The only thing to me that looks vette about it is the long nose and it's alway been that way. It's just cause its a front engine super car
jdoesApr 04, 2012 Matt needs to leave, viper is back.
Bob TurefanntApr 04, 2012 Too long in the front? Is that even possible?
Philipp KentnerApr 04, 2012 the silver one looks too long in the front
Ben ArendsApr 04, 2012 I'm a huge viper fan, and love this new rendition, but you guys are right. Squint a little, and it looks like a Calloway C12 Corvette (at least the silver modded viper does). Still love it though.
Matt PiccoloApr 04, 2012 I live te front, but hate the sides and bak
Chris PenzaApr 04, 2012 This better make it to forza soon
Thomas MackeyApr 04, 2012 I don't see vette anywhere. What I see is one bad ass ride.
Tom McleodApr 04, 2012 They've elongated the hood and changed the headlamps and body lines in such a way that I feel like the red one now shares a resemblance to a corvette. And being a corvette fan, that saddens me.
Oscar GalvanApr 04, 2012 I like it or at least the front

Fabian PioroApr 07, 2012 Gtr is a performance car. Viper is more of just huge engine in a frame. Like a go cart
Judah LindvallApr 05, 2012 Thought this video was interesting, comparing viper vette 911 and gtr
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyesMboupuU&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Emmanuel IrizarryApr 05, 2012 And if (I know I wouldn't) someone put a TT or supercharger, that monster will easily get 1000HP
Pablo HerasmeApr 04, 2012 I'll take the Viper for the weekends and GTR for daily driving. Perfect Garage.
Kenneth WilliamsApr 04, 2012 I'm ready to see some track time on this
Cody MatthewsApr 04, 2012 This car is a performance monster. Now I do also like the GTR, but the experience you get from a Viper (in this case with the assists off) I just purely unreal. I would take this over a GTR any day. It is faster, meaner and more fun.
Clint EdwardsApr 04, 2012 Also, the GT-R does absolutely nothing for me aesthically, while this makes me feel borderline unfaithful to my fiance
Clint EdwardsApr 04, 2012 @Judah well for one, this is a driver's car. It's made to be hooned and enjoyed, the GT-R is a tech fest. The old one was faster on the track, so I'm putting my money on this one as well.
Judah LindvallApr 04, 2012 And I do realize that they r somewhat different categories since one's NA and the other isn't. And ones awd
Judah LindvallApr 04, 2012 This is an honest question so please nobody blow up. What is better about this over a gtr? Cause they're about the same price. Is it just a preference thing or are there actual solid benefits to this car?
Edgar JaureguiApr 04, 2012 That is true i rarely see anything other than ford vs. gm... Mopar's always cool x)
Abraham MendozaApr 04, 2012 I had no idea. That IS true, I do have mopar friends than Ford friends.
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 Wow wow wow, Mopar guys and GM guys are the only ones that get along let's keep it that way!
Danny ScottApr 04, 2012 Because of the interior I would put this thing in a whole different league than any plastic vette any day.
Thomas MackeyApr 04, 2012 Ha! C7. Don't make me laugh. lol lol
Cham KhievApr 06, 2012 Take all the stickers and wing offa the racecar version and make it the production spec. Wayyy better
Dylan BruderApr 05, 2012 I'm not sure if they will make a gt1 car I know they'll make a gt2 car because mr.gilles said they're reentering the alms and since the corvettes chased everyone out of gt1......
John RaymondApr 04, 2012 Lol at the rx7 comment. That would be awesome sell that body kit hell the hood on the grey srt is sexy =D
Josh SuttonApr 04, 2012 That intake on the hood reminds me of a Ferrari 575.
Ayrton van der WesthuizenApr 04, 2012 they should make that bodykit an optional package when u buy the new viper
Dillon DixonApr 04, 2012 The only thing that bothers me is that the headlights are almost exactly the same as the Agera R. I just can't get that off my mind.
Dustin LabitApr 04, 2012 This is the second happiest day of my life. The first will be when I finally own one of these
Louis ValdiviaApr 04, 2012 Gabriel
Just because your honda civic aint like this doesnt mean you cant hate on it...
Abraham MendozaApr 04, 2012 I'm sure a Fisker Karma is better than this. Oh wait...it just fell apart.
No PistonsApr 04, 2012 Lap times and it being banned from GT racing due to its dominance speaks for itself
Mikey JimenezApr 04, 2012 It's kind of to take a guy serious when his dream car is a fisker karma.
Connor WagnerApr 04, 2012 @gabrial U have some balls calling that beautiful car gross
Gabriel RamirezApr 04, 2012 Gross. Looks like the side of dodges new, and disgusting, charger. Front looks like a combination between a wanna be Ferrari and a corvette and the back is almost the same as the old one. Which was also gross. Step it up dodge please.
Frederick PerezApr 04, 2012 Way better than the previous model.
Dillon MageeApr 04, 2012 I like it a lot. I think that it looks better than the old one.
Taylor GreenfieldApr 04, 2012 maserati granturismo lights.. looks amazing tho
Oscar GalvanApr 04, 2012 I don't want people to take me the wrong way I love viper, and I will buy this in a heartbeat but I just can't seemed to like the back
Gabriel RamirezApr 04, 2012 From this angle it literally looks like it crashed into a corvette. The back window and roof line starts to do something interesting but the rest is just ugly.
David TylerApr 04, 2012 im with oscar i dont mind for the back :T
Robby BradfordApr 04, 2012 This is the sort of looks that will build on you. Any new viper is an incredible car
Oscar GalvanApr 04, 2012 As much as I like the viper and I try to like this one I don't like the back
Fabian PioroApr 07, 2012 Lol yea! Put wooden wheels on it and make it even more of a drivers car! Since when was a BETTER performing car become harder to drive? Maybe add some algebra in at the same time?
Alanda BurroughsApr 05, 2012 Forget an F12...give me this! A real driver's car...not a frikin robot!
Tim PreisingerApr 04, 2012 Wow... The interior is much nicer then I thought it would be. Amazing job all around
Carlton SalmonApr 04, 2012 Glory be...a manual!! So glad there's no flappy paddle option on this, a Viper is all about the physical interaction between driver and car - anything other than manual just wouldn't be the same.
Danny ScottApr 04, 2012 Very happy that they stepped up the interior in this! Car looks very very sweet
Patrick SchalkApr 04, 2012 Incredible. This is amazing. Fantastic job SRT.
Jay MauranApr 04, 2012 At least Ferrari didn't put all those stupid switches on the steering wheel
Kevin RehbockApr 04, 2012 The new interior layout is just a bonus that comes with the bone jarring performance. Now they should go out to the Nurburgring and post a sub 7-minute lap time.
Tara FitriaApr 04, 2012 Definitely fits the msrp more so than the last gen vipers. Bravo srt, you really made a great car on paper and in pictures.
Dillon DixonApr 04, 2012 I do love the interior though. Fantastic job on it.
Paul TrahanApr 04, 2012 Viper interiors have always been simple. Everything you need a not much else. Ever been I. A first Gen Viper? This is a luxury hotel room with taliored made suites compared to a first gen Viper.
Thomas MackeyApr 04, 2012 It's a viper. Simple is good. Nobody wants a busy interior. Sleek. Simple. Looks fantastic.
Thibault LeroyApr 04, 2012 i like the interior but it looks a bit too simple
Lou GuerreroApr 05, 2012 There's not much room between the brace and those covers. Does the V10 have solid mounts to reduce the torquing of the engine?
Andrew GrimmApr 05, 2012 I guess it may just be the color of the metal.
Andrew GrimmApr 05, 2012 Is it just me, or does every alternator I see just looks ugly, dirty, and really old looking? Like on this one, I would expect it to look fantastic and clean because it is a brand new engine, but I think it just looks like it is dirty or something.
Andrew GrimmApr 04, 2012 That's not a lot of plastic. The only plastic that is there is covering the headers. it probably has a heat shield under it. But still, it would be nice without it
Thomas MackeyApr 04, 2012 Only plastic is where the name viper is on.
Dillon DixonApr 04, 2012 Still a lot of plastic, but knowing the beast that is under it it doesn't bother me too bad.
Actually the acr is completely road legal and is a production car.
Acr is a race car. Come on. Stupid to even put it in the "production model" genre
A radical is not a street legal car. It's a race car.
you do realize that this is just the base viper and not the ACR? the last ACR held the lap record for a while and this will be faster. just imagine what the ACR will do. i wouldnt take it over the lambo or ferrari but definitely over the GTR or ZR1
i like this car but somehow i feel like its disconnected from the previous generations :/
Right, 1. There is a small place in everyones heart for an SRT if not then don't call yourself a car fan 2. I was looking for 700hp but you can't have everything 3. I'm a cold hard supercar fan and normally dislike U.S. cars but wow this I like...
It actually set quite a few records on other tracks.
In speed or really anything. Don't get me wrong, I love this car and it truly is amazing.
@Patrick, one, you would be wrong that it is the fastest production car to lap the ring. The Radical SR8 LM holds that title. And two, it is "no biggie" anyone can make a car go fast. And off the ring I don't think is really has any world records...
Guess Bob doesn't know this is the fastest production vehicle around the ring. No biggie.
I see, Dan is from England. The place of bad teeth and American car hating. He wouldn't approve of the viper if it held ever record in the world.
@mikey yea I think I remember which a reticle your talking about, but there is over 250 on the first 4 pages alone. I did not add up the rest of the pages, but by quickly looking at the rest of the numbers, I think this is close or at 400 comments
@chad, I do agree that this is awesome car but there are cars with more impressive engines. to call this an engineering masterpiece would do injustice to other more impressive cars.
Hahahaha Dan I don't think you can call anything gay based on your hair and sunglasses.
Come on Dan, that's the best you could do? Huh, guess that reflects how good the car is. No fault at all.
A GT-R article got up to +300 comments.
And read some of Dan J's comments. I honestly think he can't afford them and feels jealous.
This looks like it will carry on the tradition of insanity passed on by it's predecessors. Git pumped.
BTW I would definitely take this over a ZR1 or a GTR any day
Wow, I've been using this app almost since it came out (I have not commented for nearly that long though) and I don't remember any article that has gotten more comments than this one. Almost 250 comments on the first 4 pages alone. Way to go guys!
Hey dont get mad at Dan he's just pissed because where he's from cars are tax and insured at such high rates that the best car he can afford is 1.6 diesel Skoda.
And considering that 95% of all comments on this article have been overwhelmingly positive, I'd say plenty of people would want this "pile of yank crap"
Hahaha god the stupidity is getting out of control!! The cancer is almost terminal. @dan j Why don't you go check out the lap times for the ACR and I don't know maybe some research, open a book and learn of its racing Dominance.
Hahaha Dan isnt even worth replying to. Too many ignorant people on here. I love the people talking smack especially when the Viper already runs the ring. I cant wait till this one goes around so these idiots can quit with all the bs
Oh look, another attention whore. Just what we need
You never know..640hp car...girl with big chest...
@Steven who buys car just to get girls... You have no game bro.
Another massively GAY car from the states. Who in there right might would buy this pile of yank crap. comments pls?
@ Steven that's total BS you'd be at 3rd base before you could even take the keys out of the ignition in a viper.
Lmao Steven is so right
Nice car but one problem: Man: "Hello ladies, I drive a Viper". Woman: "a what?" Man: "An SRT" Woman: "a what?" Man: "A Chrysler product" Woman: "Get Lost" Give me a Porsche.
@Patrick what gets me is how the same guy can call 650hp weak but call a 200hp 4 cylinder an absolute beast
@pat Agreed Why do most gt3-1 race cars have large displacement yet around 500hp? Once you find out why you will realize why this is 8L at 600+hp
First Robbie, you can turn off the TCS. Second, they needed to keep the power suitable enough for street driving. That V10 can make a hell of a lot more power and potential buyers wouldn't be able to handle it.
Yes the viper has a big engine, but theres no other engine like it. Such unique sound and performance.
I love the HP per Liter argument. Cracks me up so much.
While I love this car it's not the same machine it once was. The name dodge is gone. All the fancy traction control, abs, and other crap is added. Great car just not as good as its predecessors.
You do realize this thing beats the "engineering masterpieces" by miles right? Fancy isn't always better. This thing is a monster. And it's going to keep giving the beat down to the much more expensive competitor.
looks great. not even close to an engineering masterpiece...100hp per liter is easily achievable now. srt has a long way to go.
And like William said the power band on these engines are amazing!
I'm sure cause of the cafe standards SRT isn't aloud to go over a hp limit.
Amazing, im scared of what the ACR and ACR-X are going to do. This is perfection. Well done SRT.
and high liter to HP is so it dosent just eat tires up, it makes the power bands actually useable.. that's why ft cars have big liter engine but usually under 500 HP... its all about the curves
for how good the viper is it don't need more power, I drove an old one and my god what a ride all the torque and no stupid computer to tell it not to kill u. amazing ride and a great expierence... hopefully this one won't let us down
@ Michael. Nooo I know the torque is crazy good, most of any n/a engine. But the hp side I feel is a little on the lower end. I was just hoping for more around 700hp, especially with such a massive engine. But I'm still quite content with 640.
Ya and It also weighs less then pagani's 7.3L V12, Lamborhgini's 6.5L V12, and Bugatti's 8.0L W16 so...
The liter to BHP is a little low to be a masterpiece.
Engineering masterpiece? Really good but not a masterpiece.
@Michael my bad the ZR1 is supercharged oops...anyways you're right.
@Michael the ZR1 has 604lbft
@ Michael. It has the highest torque output of any naturally aspirated stock road car. More than enough power!
Because Dodge didn't want FIAT to be totally in charge of the development of the Viper, so they split up into two part, with subsequent brands. The part that needed saving (Chrysler, Dodge) and the part Chrysler wanted total control of (Ram Trucks and SRT).
wait why is it not a dodge viper?
About time I was reading about about this on another website about noon today.
I have to keep reminding myself that its not called a dodge viper, its an SRT viper, still just love it
Watched the unveiling video live it was awesome gave me sweaty palms and I'm a vette fan the viper deserves it's place though glad to see it back
It held the lap record with 40 less hp. Just imagine what it will do with all that tech and 40 more hp and 600 ft lbs.
Would have liked to see some more power but I'm still pleased with that amount.
