Nick SchneeMay 15, 2012 Paintjob's a little dumb, but apart from that... Astonishing!
Description: Porsche's latest supercar is a plug-in hybrid and utilizes a 570hp 4.6-liter V8 coupled with two electric motors, one complementing the rear and rated at 120hp and one for the front rated at 110h...Add Comments7
KeX LimMay 16, 2012 Now, this is a hybrid worth driving!
Rick GuntherMay 16, 2012 I'm sorry but I'm never going to be able to get pass the fact that it's a hybrid. Not a big fan of the electric motor stuff. =/
John SerelyMay 15, 2012 Your right, Carlos. There is no need to worry, Brady. It is mid-engined and a porsche, so it will handle great
Carlos Ernesto GarciaMay 15, 2012 Im pretty sure the last thing you need to worry about is if a mid engined PORSCHE handles well
Brady JacobyMay 15, 2012 I was gunna say, 500s is low for something that beautiful but 800 is certainly acceptable! This is gunna be a great car if it handles:)
Avery WilliamsMay 15, 2012 That's good for a Porsche. They're starting to step up their horsepower!
Description: Porsche plans on beginning production of the 2014 918 Spyder in September of 2013 with 918 units planned. It could carry a price tag of around $850,000 and should begin deliveries in either late 2013 ...Add Comments12
wfdownsMay 16, 2012 @alex those rants of yours are severly annoying all they ever are is quotes u can get from google
John SerelyMay 15, 2012 Simple mistake Jackson, it is not a big deal. This is CarBuzz, not SpellingBuzz or GrammerBuzz
Jackson MichaelMay 15, 2012 Nice try Caleb, but "a lot" is two separate words
Brady JacobyMay 15, 2012 Billionaire* haha I'd buy it and hang it in picture frames on my walls!
Joe Fats HarperMay 15, 2012 The guy who patents an affordable carbon fiber will become a millionaire..
Bruno RochaMay 15, 2012 Does carrera gt cheaper than that?
Tyler BradyMay 15, 2012 If they could just find an inexpensive way to mass produce carbon fiber this car would be $250,000 instead.
Arjun Singh GehlotMay 15, 2012 These are just the direct costs you are speculating about - you have to weigh in the risk and the cost of that capital
Alex ArvanitisMay 15, 2012 And I doubt it costs them $166,000 per vehicle to make them once the initial $252,000,000 is factored out.
By doing this then figuring 918 units*$850,000*(.20) we end up around $160m.
$160m+$252m shows $412m and leaves a projected profit of $350m!
Alex ArvanitisMay 15, 2012 Before someone asks, no I didnt forget there were development costs, but even generously per portioned on a 33/20 model (33% upfront development and 20% unit variable to price ratio) they still come out way ahead. I doubt it cost $252m to engineer.
Alex ArvanitisMay 15, 2012 $775,000,000~ in projected revenue if they sell out at that price.
There's so much profit that its almost disgusting but wealthy people the world over exist as demand so they will capitalize on pricing the supply.
Hats off, they know their game.
Avery WilliamsMay 15, 2012 Really?! $850,000! It seems like cars nowadays are becoming more expensive but I have to remember this is a Porsche and a race car.
Brandon CarrMay 15, 2012 Oh this should be censored!!!!!!!!!! It's so sexy!!!!!!!
Wmg ChinchillaMay 15, 2012 It looks incredible from the back. I'm glad to see the engine area will be similar to the Carrera GT
Abraham MendozaMay 15, 2012 @Ben: That's what they're testing right now.
Jon González EguiluzMay 15, 2012 Everything concerning the engine is on top to keep its heat as far away as posible from the batteries which are down
Joe Fats HarperMay 15, 2012 Seems like it might be bad to drive in the rain? You'd expect they solved that problem, but still a concern
Dillon DixonMay 15, 2012 I'm sure Porsche have thought of all that. Otherwise, the exhaust wouldn't be that way.
Jason DannheimMay 15, 2012 It must not be a problem Ben. Side-exit exhausts should have a similar problem and they've been used for decades.
Ben ArendsMay 15, 2012 When the car is stopped, there is no aerodynamic impact. Heat rises, particulate falls. Ever seen smog? Same thing on a small basis. Not a problem when moving, but ever been on a drive where u never stopped once? Similar to a motorcycle, I bet
JvMay 15, 2012 The back looks very similar to the carrera gt, love it!
jesterMay 15, 2012 The exhaust fires away from anything that would aerodynamically suck the exhaust back into the cabin, not sure I understand the concern.
Ben ArendsMay 15, 2012 I love Porsche. If there wasn't already bandwagon, I'd build it.
This is another amazing car! Love the exhaust, hopefully it doesn't make the driver smell though...sitting still would concern me with it
wfdownsMay 16, 2012 that dosent mean anything, companys change car parts all the time, but considering what it looked like last time we saw it and now it has its own body, everything on the car will probally carry over
Cody MatthewsMay 16, 2012 Those are the right tail lights. They were on the concept.
Janak SolankiMay 16, 2012 Wow look how fat those tires are!
Sean BrayMay 15, 2012 They look tacked on. Its just a test mule I'd bet they are just 911 lights held in place for now. Don't want anyone seeing the finished product already.
Alex BiegajMay 15, 2012 Looks light the taillights are directly borrowed from the new 911.
Forrest WoodMay 15, 2012 That back end looks sweet
Carlton SalmonMay 15, 2012 @ Dennis. Deafening and epic mate.
Dennis ChoongMay 15, 2012 The sound must be deafening at full throttle with the exhaust just behind your head
deedayMay 15, 2012 originally where the exaust are were air intakes that rose up @a certain speed like the murcielago but even cooler. I guess if they arent going that route the exaust idea is cool
Oscar GalvanMay 15, 2012 Don't forget mclarens new car
Carlos Ernesto GarciaMay 15, 2012 I hope thers a review between this and the enzo replacement
Carlos Ernesto GarciaMay 15, 2012 I wish u could see the engine like in the Carrera GT :(
GoobeeMay 15, 2012 the back looks like the 911 gt1
Sam OglesbyMay 15, 2012 Love the exhaust exits from the humps
wfdownsMay 16, 2012 i never like a porsche front end really thats back have been hit or miss but always loved there sound and performance, this i like everywhere
jesterMay 15, 2012 The front is too boring, rear is too busy. Everything between the wheelbase is perfect.
I have a million dollars.
No. No your not.
I'm getting that car
