Jay Leno Given First Drive of 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
This is the first time anyone outside Ford has gotten behind the wheel of the Shelby GT500 on the road.
The GT500 is dominated by its 5.8-liter, 662hp, 631lb-ft, supercharged V8 engine. Essentially an evolution of the Ford GT's V8, when it came to developing the GT500 the main areas of concern was getting 650hp, 600lb-ft and 200mph out of it. The result was the most powerful production V8 in the world. All these targets have been met by Ford's SVT division, whose chief engineer Jamal Hameedi recently visited Jay Leno's Garage bringing along the Shelby GT500 as well as a Ford Mustang Boss 302.
Jay was given the amazing privilege of being the first citizen outside of Ford to drive these high-performance models, and in this awesome first look he takes the $54,000 Shelby GT500 for a long-awaited spin.
