Abraham MendozaMay 21, 2012 GT500 just has weight to it, it sounds cool and classy, I like it.
Thibault LeroyMay 21, 2012 yea GT650 sounds awesome but i can see why they would want to keep GT500
Alex ArvanitisMay 21, 2012 It's not a production car Zach,
Also interesting fact, koenigseggs earlier cars used a 4.6 ford mill they tuned to 550-650hp then they made their own v8.
Description: Jay was given the amazing privilege of being the first citizen outside of Ford to drive these high-performance models, and in this awesome first look he takes the $54,000 Shelby GT500 for a long-await...Add Comments37
Mikey JimenezMay 23, 2012 @Jared 1994 Chevy C1500. It was my dads but I recently bought it from him.
Dave StewartMay 23, 2012 In car aspects Leno in an incredible inspiration and guy to look up to
Jared PalmerMay 22, 2012 Mikey, what year? I'm starting my 383 build this weekend for my 69 c10
Mikey JimenezMay 21, 2012 @Abraham I meant I'm not making the same power as Tim that why I said "ONLY!" O and did I mention that I had a truck.
Laguna SecaMay 21, 2012 Jay, the guy even richest guys envy. He gets a lot of amazing opportunities.
Abraham MendozaMay 21, 2012 Only? Ha, sounds like good numbers to me, but sounds reliable though if its putting "only" that much power.
Mikey JimenezMay 21, 2012 I actually have a 383 stroker myself, but I'm only making 350HP and 425lbft at the wheel tho.
Patrick SchalkMay 21, 2012 Yeah I have 285/40/19s on my car and it'll put the power down pretty well. I'm sure my suspension stuff plays a part in that though. Tim get a big blower!
Austin JobesMay 21, 2012 get to take one of the babys to prom next year :)). my girlfriends grandma let me take her 81 trans am. battery had an issue. my girls
ma is buyin this and lettin me take it. so excited.
Tim PreisingerMay 21, 2012 Small block. 383. Would need to change the heads out too if I was going to go with a blower. Can't really afford that right now sadly
Mikey JimenezMay 21, 2012 @Tim Big Block or Small Block?
Tim PreisingerMay 21, 2012 I have 275's in the rear of my Nova and on the street they hook up just fine with a little under 600hp. Would love to get a blower someday too. Also, nice lookin Vette!
rahpMay 21, 2012 man finally a test drive in the real world ..... no crying about the solid rear axle!! I would trade my 2010 but the cheapest I found out of four dealerships was $74,000. that is a $20,000 dealer markup ... that was before Carroll Shelby died ....
Barry Boo WilsonMay 21, 2012 Awesome car but give me the Boss. I'll take the money saved and make it faster.
Alex ArvanitisMay 21, 2012 I have 315/40/18's on my car, they hook well enough. I want 335/35/18's but I cant fit them easily on my cobra.
The 2013 gt500 with 335 Hoosiers (dr's) and a 4500rpm launch control start should run low low 11's/ 10.90's
Trent BourgeoisMay 21, 2012 Thanks man. I'm in college and all I could do so far is repaint it. This summer redoing interior flaws (since I got this one for 10500). It has around 400 with the parts on it, but it's wicked fast. Doing AFR heads cam within a year. Aiming for 500.
Trent BourgeoisMay 21, 2012 With this power I would expect 320's + in the rear. Kinda wondering about 285's. That's about what my Vette has and it was ment for 350 hp/tq.
Justin RouthMay 21, 2012 The hp and torque in this engine is crazy good
Avery WilliamsMay 21, 2012 Jay and I couldn't have agreed anymore, you can ONLY buy this car as a stick, not an automatic!!!
Mikey JimenezMay 21, 2012 This thing is awesome! All it needs now is a IRS and 305s in the back.
Tim PreisingerMay 21, 2012 Amazing car! And what a bang for the buck
Dillon DixonMay 21, 2012 I would want the 1965 Shelby GT350 over all of those cars. That's my ultimate dream car right there.
The 2013 GT500 is so freaking amazing. I won't be able to contain myself when I see one in person.
Tyler BradyMay 21, 2012 I could not love a human baby more than I love this car!!
Bruce-Almighty TumblinMay 21, 2012 The FORD Boss 302 & GT500 is the perfect 1,2 punch; now throw in the 5.0 you get the perfect combination of sport cars for your money!!!!
Carlton SalmonMay 21, 2012 Caroll Shelby's Mustang masterpiece. The GT500 has done him proud. Thank you for your legacy and RIP Mr. Shelby.
Tin NguyenMay 21, 2012 Would luv to drive one....
Brad is right. Great value. What else can you get for $54000 with over 600hp and torque? None!
Charlie StrattonMay 21, 2012 I can't believe people want a camero I would take the Shelby
Duncan JolleyMay 21, 2012 All of those performance numbers for only $54,000? That's is a great deal.
Scott LenahanMay 21, 2012 What a monster that car is.
Lou GuerreroMay 21, 2012 I'd want this motor in a Ford GT.
Brad WoodMay 21, 2012 By far the est value in the sports car market. That is coming from a guy who is not much of a mustang fan.
Jack HigginsMay 21, 2012 I love my 2010. I'm thinking about selling it and getting this one.
Phillip GreeneMay 21, 2012 I seen one on i45 in the woodlands yesterday looks exactly like the last one not very loud either must have butterflies
Dylan BrownMay 21, 2012 Man I can't believe these have finally been released, the 18th a friend of mine picked his up
Thomas Isnt GreenMay 23, 2012 Mustangs and camaros r a close call to me but GTRs no... No... No,not at all they seem rice like even when they come out of the factory....silly goose
Eli DirkMay 23, 2012 @thomas no gtr's r not cheaply biult. Nissan makes good quality cars that last a lifetime. And Ford on the other hand well....you know cheeeeeeeap
Conner GauzeMay 22, 2012 I'd still rather have a new Camaro Zl1
Paul LissonaMay 22, 2012 Yah I dont like gtrs either, they're pretty boring to me.
Thomas Isnt GreenMay 21, 2012 Gtrs r a no go 4 me mustangs rock my world and I've been in both and I'd hav 2 say mustangs they drive smoother faster and they last forever GTRs r cheaped out and fall apart and mustangs just win all together AMERICAN PRIDE
Christoffer WassbergMay 21, 2012 And before people know the 2013 s302 has 700 hp its supercharged has intercooler with race suspension to make it lighter and more agile the the 500 and its top speed is 210 and it looks better
Abraham MendozaMay 21, 2012 This better not be an argument with the GTR, this car is for fun and being loud, the GTR is for....being quicker out of the corners. I'm a Chevy guy, but I'd rather have this over the GTR.
Tim PreisingerMay 21, 2012 I personally think the Shelby is a better bang for the buck then the GTR. Sure, the GTR is a little faster in the quarter and around the track. But it's also almost 40k more expensive.
chikenbagMay 21, 2012 nice canadian tuxedo, Denim Dan
Bruce-Almighty TumblinMay 21, 2012 If the GT500 was AWD would the Nissan GTR have a shot?
Bruce-Almighty TumblinMay 21, 2012 The Nissan GTR may be quicker off the line & in the quarter mile because its AWD but the GT500 is flat out faster with 200mph
Mikey JimenezMay 21, 2012 @Scott no one is saying that.
Scott GraceyMay 21, 2012 This is a nice car, as is the gtr, but saying one is better than the other because it has more hp is the dumbest thing I've ever heard
rahpMay 21, 2012 is the zl1 supposed to compare to this ..... Lmao!!!
Mikey JimenezMay 21, 2012 @Rockesh They're not in the same class, the Corvette ZR1 is better than the GT-R but they're not in the same class so what's your point?
Christoffer WassbergMay 21, 2012 My aunt and uncle own a stock s281 stock and beat a keaton sacrys 2010 gt500
Mikey JimenezMay 21, 2012 @Alex you put this on every page, we get it!!
Alex ArvanitisMay 21, 2012 Ford built the most powerful production v8 in the world, they put a very conservative tune so it won't have an astirix: "also the most blown up production engine"
A tune, bolt ons, and slicks will put this car in the 9's. 725whp territory.
Mikey JimenezMay 21, 2012 @Keiler shut up dude, this has more HP and it's less expensive.
Keiler CountrymanMay 21, 2012 Nissan gtr is the best bang for your buck
Justin KlumppMay 21, 2012 I just think ever since 2005 the mustangs have gone down in styling. There getting better again but my favorite mustang is still the mach 1
Justin RouthMay 21, 2012 @Dhruv what does that have to do with anything?
Jason BrowerMay 21, 2012 I love the wheels on there. Almost look like rotiform blq. Nice.
Andrew HubbardMay 21, 2012 When Jay isn't dressed up he's always like this, it's his car working clothes. :p
Greg LewisMay 21, 2012 Justin is just saying his car preference, which is fine. But the the s281 beating it? That I'd love to see....
Scott GraceyMay 21, 2012 I feel like every article leno is in he's always wearing the same outfit
Bruce-Almighty TumblinMay 21, 2012 Never mind Justin or Chris they are high on drugs or something lol
Shm@ them
Dustin LabitMay 21, 2012 Cobras have always been superior to Saleens.
Zack HartmanMay 21, 2012 Christoffer neither of those cars have close to the same hp this would destroy both
Christoffer WassbergMay 21, 2012 The saleen s302 extreme or s281 would smoke this thing in a straight line or a circuit track because the more horse power and racing suspension
Justin KlumppMay 21, 2012 Looks generally the same. Nice car but id prefer the camaro ir challenger
GT500 just has weight to it, it sounds cool and classy, I like it.
yea GT650 sounds awesome but i can see why they would want to keep GT500
It's not a production car Zach, Also interesting fact, koenigseggs earlier cars used a 4.6 ford mill they tuned to 550-650hp then they made their own v8.
It's about heritage
Nah. That's not a stupid question. I think GT650 sounds pretty cool for this.
That's why they should just call it Cobra.
@Dustin wow that has to be the stupidest question I've ever seen.
Gt500 is the classic name
Why isn't it the gt650 then?
