Polestar Produces A 508hp Hit: Volvo S60 Performance Concept

Polestar and Volvo have teamed up yet again for an impressive BMW M3-fighting hit.
Yesterday's Gothenburg City Race in Sweden played host to debut sure to set the internet ablaze - a Volvo S60 Performance Concept by the Swedish automaker's official motorsports partner Polestar. The powerful sedan was built for an unspecified customer, however Volvo plans on building a "a small series of Polestar modified S60s... pending market response." In terms of styling, the Volvo S60 Polestar Performance Concept features a wide body kit which makes it thicker by 20mm.

The kit contains a new front bumper with splitter, side skirts, trunk-lid spoiler and new rear bumper with integrated diffuser. It rides on a set of 19-inch wheels. Built to compete against the BMW M3, the S60 Performance Concept by Polestar features an inline 6-cylinder engine with a modified cylinder head, inlet manifold, air intake, combustion chambers and a bigger Garret turbocharger. Thanks to these changes, the engine now puts out 508hp and 424 lb-ft of torque. Compared to the stock's 300hp, these changes are pretty impressive.
An Ohlins lowered suspension, Haldex all-wheel-drive and bigger Brembo brakes further enhance the S60, allowing it to blast off the line to 62mph in only 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of over 186mph. The stock, again by comparison, reaches 62mph from rest in 6.1 seconds and achieves a top speed of 155mph. Polestar didn't forget about the interior either, as the company has added new sports seats and Alcantara on everything, from the steering wheel to shift knob to the center console. In total, the Volvo S60 Polestar Performance Concept weighs in at 3,615lbs.
