My uncle has a 97 trans am convertible ram air candy apple red. It's a beast
GM used a wind tunnel extensively in the 90's and the C5 Vette, and fourth gen Camaro and Firebird have the lowest CD of any GM vehicle because of it. Top end racers have gotten a modified Trans Am over 200.
And what brand would it come back as? I doubt it would happen. GM, like every other car company, doesn't want 2 cars in the muscle/pony car class because they would basically compete with each other in today's market.
I would pay good money to drive a new Firebird. I owned a 2000 and loved it. It wasn't anything special, but it's easily my favorite of all the cars I've owned.

They're talking about the Trans Am Depot firebirds, which are really cool. They also have a modern GTO that looks fantastic.

i drive a Pontiac Ans i don't like that GM got rid of them. I just don't understand why Chevy and Pontiac had to have the same cars with a different name. jeeze GM. atleast the firebird and camaro look different...

My first daily driver back in high school was an 88 GTA. And while it only made a bit under 250hp, it made close to 350lb/ft stock! And yeah, turbo TA pace cars are badass!
Buy the body, drop the motor. For less than 5g you can easily push 400hp form these cars.

This is what killed ponti.... Er, wait.... The sad attempt at the GTO killed Pontiac. If GM would of retro'd those two cars properly, buick would been axed. The concepts off the new maro are awesome, just a dollar short and a day late
