2013 Seat Leon Pops Up Early

Seat's latest hatchback can be viewed in all its glory online before its official release.
While Volkswagen has refreshed its Golf and Jetta model lines several times over in the last few years, Seat has been stuck with the same Leon since 2005. That doesn't mean that the Spanish automaker hasn't been working on a replacement. In fact it's been in the works now for a couple of years, and while its debut wasn't expected just yet, a whole mess of photos have now popped up online. The 2013 Seat Leon utilizes VW's MQB platform and draws its design cues from the 2010 Seat IBE Coupe Concept.

Motivation for the new hatch is expected to come in the form of several gasoline and diesel engines, with a plug-in hybrid powertrain expected to arrive at a later date. Beyond the base trim, the leaked photos also show off the sportier FR model. In addition to more aggressive styling, the FR trim gets new wheels and redesigned bumpers to stand out from its standard counterpart. Keep an eye on CarBuzz for the official details of the 2013 Leon as they come out from Seat.
