Coulthard and Scott Tee Off in Mercedes CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake

AMG's new power wagon meets another kind of driver altogether.

Well, if this isn't about par for the course, we don't know what is. Mercedes-Benz has placed two of its brand ambassadors - former F1 driver David Coulthard and golfer Adam Scott - in the new CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake for a little promo. The last time the two teamed up, it was to set a world record for catching a golf ball in a moving car - an SLS AMG Roadster, as it happened. Now Coulthard has taken Scott around in a vehicle that can more easily swallow his set of clubs.

The promo was released in advance of two events: the 141st Open Championship, where Mercedes-Benz will serve as the "official car", and the German Grand Prix, where the automaker will showcase the AMG Shooting Brake to the public for the first time.

The collaboration between Coulthard and Scott isn't the first time we've seen golf and cars coming together. Setting aside the Volkswagen hatchback (which was actually named for the gulfstream winds and not the sport), Lamborghini teamed up with Callaway Golf on some carbon-fiber drivers, everyone from Porsche Design to Ferrari's burgeoning merchandizing division has made golf apparel... even Rhys Millen has used his Veloster rally car as a high-powered golf cart. We suspect this won't be the last time we see the two disciplines coming together, either.
