Damn that Astra has some impressive looks and performance... I'd have it over any other hot hatch on the market. Too bad Opel is moving to a cheaper market...
Actually low profile tires lose grip. An ideal setup would allow "some" tire roll. Most of not all, low pro tires, have a higher speed rating which is basically a stiffer sidewall. This gives the impression of tighter feel over stock sizes.
