The Porsche 918 Spider Sounds Awesome

Perhaps the world's best-sounding hybrid.

We already have a very good idea as to what the production version of the Porsche 918 Spider is going to look like. Between the concept and the many spy shots we've seen, the 918 could potentially be one of the best-looking Porsche's ever made.

But here's the thing: it's going to be powered by not just a 570hp 4.6-liter V8 but also by a pair of electric motors located front and rear which will help to deliver a total output in the 800hp neighborhood.

Many may be wondering, and for good reason, what the engine note will sound like. The 918 will be considered a hybrid and that type of car isn't normally known for sounding like much of anything exciting, unless the Toyota Prius is your thing.

In this recently posted spy video of 918 Spider test mule doing some laps around the Nurburgring, we're able to clearly hear the engine - and it sounds incredible. Thanks Porsche, we knew you wouldn't let us down. Expect to see the 918 Spider have its official debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show.
