I'd buy* the vette ($18-22k for a c5 z vs $65-100k for a gtr, easy call but it is a much lesser car and needs $10,000 in mods to compete with a gtr assuming its a healthy car in the first place and wasn't beat to shit by previous owners)
As respectable as vettes are, and I much prefer them to gtr's, your forgetting the important features a gtr has that a vette can't touch. Practicality. Seats 4, can be driven all year, incredibly easy handling. I'd but the vette. Gtr earns respect.
GTR is a stop light superstar, nothing else. ZR1 and Z06 run faster 1/4 miles. And if I had been driving that Z06, I would've embarrassed this GTR, trust me. I killed a Gallardo Superleggera in my best friends Z06.
@Ivan Drive a Z06 and say that shit. It's better than we make it out to be. Also the LS engines are far from a "1960s" design. Do some research dude. Waayyy too many ignorant comments on here. And FYI the Z06 is faster at higher speeds than the GTR.

2012 Gtr has like 530ish horsepower and the zo6 has like 505ish... That video proves nothing but Gtr would be my bet.

Yo! Did you see that Accord stomp that WRX? Sweet. I agree that these guys shouldn't be doing this on public roads. A little bit of showing off is alright but if either of these cars hit someone it'd be catastrophic. Take another look at how close the Vette is getting to other cars. His minds all about racing not his fellow motorists.
@laguna seca I don't think the wrx was trying to keep up with the vette and gtr my guess is that he saw how these to wer driving and saw they wer lining up and just wanted a closer look same thing with the yellow c5 cuz I no i would wanna be right there to see these two beasts duke it out
I don't see how the gtr beat the vette that badly. The first time the vette flew by and it took the great a while to catch up. The second time the gtr had the jump and the vette kept a solid distance behind until he let off. Gtr was slightly faster.
Real drivers get a Clubsport license and go racing on tracks and closed roads. These guys are little boys.

Timothy, those "Vette boys" have every right to think their cars are fast. Both the GTR and Corvette are great cars and both deserve respect. You can't say that the Corvette isn't fast.
The wrx makes me smile, their like a yorkie thinking they can fight a pitbull, it's not until they bloodied up and almost dead that reality sets in, or in this case, 50 car lengths behind ;-)

Definitely a gtr.. But this vid doesn't say much about either car.. At the beginning, vette had the lead cuz gtr was just cruzing and vette flew by him, then the gtr tried to catch up... Then the gtr got the lead the second time partially cuz vette

Yup, that's a a GTR, you can tell by the center connection of the spoiler and the way it curves in and then connects to the trunk on the end.

Actually the Vette won. It was winning in the beginning. Then the driver let the car pass him and he caught him with a head start. And that's not even a ZR1. It's spoiler resembles a GTR. however a Vette can beat a GTR.
As far as the video goes, looks like both cars were pretty close. Vette had to get out of the way of the other car at the start and also backed off sooner. That gtr driver is insane! Going to kill himself or someone else

Jason, a stock gt500, gtr or cts v will not beat a z06 around a track. Out of those...as much as I hate the admit it, the gtr is the only one that can take the vette in a drag race. This is coming from a huge caddy fan boy too

There is a lot of cars that can beat the Z06....Gt500, Cts-V, GTR, etc. Just to name a few. I've beat 2 in my V!

I didn't think it's GTR. A GTR's wing bends outwards, the wing in this car bends in towards the car.
The vette was ahead most was because when he passed the gtr, he was already running at a decent speed causing him to to get a good lead.

I saw a murdered out Z06 today and it was amazing. I normally don't like Vettes and it's not like I don't see them often but for some reason this one really caught my eye. For the first time in my life I wanted a Vette.

Heads, cam, intake, exhaust, dyno tune is raw. 575+whp in 3080lbs is more than enough. C6 z carbon with those mods, nitto nt05's at all fours, phabt racing carbon shaft, ebc pads, and Corbeau cr1 microsuede's with an iPad mini indash. Perfect.
Saw one of these that was tuned by Lingenfelter. I think the guy said it had 640 hp.
Think about it, Chevy is about to release their newest nameplate, and it's going to be racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series(the new nameplate that is). So of course the stock car, which is probably camo'ed out, is beating the Corvette on a closed road, with other misc. cars on the road. Look back in Chevy's news, and you'll see what I mean, it has to be their new production car.
Refined quality and engineering would be my guess on what its chasing lol with that being said i still wouldnt mind owning one haha
