BMW M3 Sedan Spied Shredding the Nurburgring

The German's popular four-door performance sedan is getting a good workout on the Nordschleife.

BMW is busy preparing their next M3 performance sedan for its eventual debut in production form at next year's Frankfurt Motor Show. The fifth-generation model could arrive in concept form as early as the Geneva Motor Show in March of next year, and by the spate of recent spy shots we have seen, the new sedan is well into its development. These photos taken from the Nurburgring show the new M3 Sedan dropping some camouflage and according to our spy photographers, sounded terrific running some hot laps.

The 2014MY M3 should run a straight-six with either two or three turbochargers, leading us to wonder exactly how powerful the latest M-badged Bimmer will be. We do know that it will eclipse the current generation M3's 414 horsepower naturally aspirated V8 by at least 40 horses, with an output likely to be in the 450-500 range. Revised styling for the 2014 BMW M3 should arrive in the form of bigger wheel arches, even more aggressive looking front and rear bumpers and a unique aerodynamics kit that is sure to differentiate the M3 from the F30 3-Series sedan.
