I've got 154,000 miles on my MY2000 S2000. Reliable, easy to maintain, quick, amazing handling, best shifter in the world, and best 4cylinder sound in a car. I'm a little tall for it at 6'2", but some new seats and lower seat rails will help.
I'd rather have a lower powered car that can handle great. Like a 318i e36.

Correct, it was only available with the 6 speed manual. Honda has rarely ever offered a DOHC Vtec motor with an auto.
If I'm not mistaken, they don't come in automatic. Is that right? My friend has one. Eventhough it couldn't keep up with my mustang gt it was a fun car to drive especially with the top down.

Cobalt SS was faster then the s2k around laguna and it was FWD so thats one American i4 that beat it and I know I can find more but regardless I'll still take the s2k lol
Oh and @ Bruce, the supra, skyline, rx7 and nsx were all in the same class performance wise ;)
That's the one thing those cars are meant to do, no shit they'll destroy the s2k there... But let's take all of em on a twisty canyon or even back road and I think the out come will b a bit different! ;)
@ Bruce... Honda was planning on the s2000 to be a special edition for their 50th b-day, but it sold SO well they kept it in production for 9 years when the intent was only 1... And wtf r u comparing the s2k to an ss or 5.0 on the drag strip

there r several problems with comparing the rs200 and the s2k one it was developed by euro ford so and only sold in euro so imo not American it is also basically a rally car so I would hope it could beat the s2k and its also a mr not a fr so its not even the same layout and its also way more expensive then the s2k

Yea MARIO but 1. it wasn't for Honda its a ACURA( eventhough Honda made Acura) 2. The NSX wasn't in the same class as the Supra,300ZX, or the RX-7; it cost alot more
Bruce the NSX was rwd and beat it's main competitor when it first came out.
The car retailed for about $30,000 us dollars and jumped up $5,000-$20,000 more because of the demand. Honda will come out with something else like all makers do. But it will never be the same or have the same name. Just love the car of that era
@bruce Honda never meant for the s2000 to be a long production car. It was a gift to themselves and the public for 50 years in the auto industry. They were surprised at how well it did.

I think wat a lot of people forget is that sports cars r not made to be power houses but instead be lightweight precise corner rockets these cars aren't designed to launch very hard becuase they don't have to. on a circuit or a twisty road where these things belong u only do 0-60 once but there is always gonna be a turn coming up

Oh and @ Colby, these days, a brand new TT v6 should b able to make upwards of 400hp... The 370z makes like 340 and that's naturally aspirated...
And it still is! And with it's sweet handling, it doesn't need all the amazing numbers cuz its handling makes up for the numbers
@ Bruce, but that wasn't the point of this car, "the numbers" weren't the first thing in Hondas mind when they built this car, they wanted a pure drivers car, and that's exactly what they made, with the 9k redline, pin point handling and that short
Looks so sick. This car is capable of sub 6 second sprints to 60mph with very little modifications. Probably the greatest 4 cylinder engine ever made in my book.
All im saying is for $35k Honda should have gave it better performance numbers then that; (like the Supra, 300ZX, or RX-7)

Not everyone wants all that weight up front of a TT v6. If the S2 is to slow for the owner, then feel free to slap on a turbo, SC or even I/H/E and a remap to suit your needs. You really need to stop going by manufacturer HP # and just build
Why doesn't Honda build something with balls? Why not a twin turbo V6 with 350 horsepower? My car will chew these up and spit them out, they're just simply too slow. Honda could make something styled great for $28k with a decent amount of power.
This car was not bad but it always lack torque, it had like 240hp & 150lbs-ft. of torque

I have serious doubts Honda can pull this off. To complete in this segment, base price will have to start well below $30k or they run the risk of pricing it out of the reach of its target market. My guess it will meet the same fate as the S2000.

The miata isn't competing with with any of the listed cars, the rx8 was. Mazda needs another rotary warrior to compete. And Nissan needs to make another s chassis, not a front wheel drive z. A new s2k would be great though, but if it's a hybrid...

Nissan will keep the Z just as powerful as it is. Scion needs to put a better engine in the fr-s to bump the stock horses so they can actually figure out who they want their competition to be.
Nissan will never rethink the Z car. It will always be a big burly 6 cylinder. But they are thinking of making a four banger sports car like the Miata based on the Juke, but they sure as hell will keep the Z around!

I hope when they revamp the civic they make the K24 in the Si better. You can't feel or hear vtec. Another reason why people hated the EP Si. That is something I love most about vtec. The noise and feel whee. It crosses over.
The difference between a pilot and an avalanche is that the avalanche is on a tried and true Rwd truck/suv platform. The ridge line was fwd. Who wants to have to shift into 4x4 to have a real truck?
I'd rather buy an all out 5.7l tundra or a small 2.7l Tacoma for efficiency, only trucks I would ever consider

Poor interior have they seen the outside of that thing it's awful and you can't see out the rear window because they put a spoiler across the middle of it

Rio yellow is ok but my spa yellow pearl is better. I do like the ap2 front but not too much else. I'm happy with my more striped down interior. More race feel and not so luxury business man style. Honda didn't make it to go golfing in.
It looks much better in person. I bought a Rio Yellow one last year, but the dealership I bought it from stole the top, trunk, and tail lights, then sold it to someone else for more money. 11,000 miles, I got it for $23k, then they sold it for $29k.

@cody hope you realize a Lexus is a Toyota just as much as a Cadillac is a Chevy. Also the main thing Subaru contributed was the engine, leaving Toyota (aka scion) to design the rest of the car. notice the styling, doesn't look anything like the STIs
Toyota doesnt have one car worth truly noting as a "nice" car anymore. The GT-86 is a Subaru so that doesn't count a smidgen. If only they still had the supra (the LFA doesn't count as a successor it's a Lexus).
