Evo Checks Out the Aston Martin Vanquish on a Frozen Swedish Lake
It doesn't get much cooler than an Aston Martin prototype drifting on the ice.
Months before the new Vanquish was unveiled, British supercar magazine Evo was invited to northern Sweden to ride shotgun in a pre-production prototype of the new Aston Martin flagship while it was undergoing winter testing in the snow. Carved on the surface of a frozen lake, Aston's Scandinavian testing facility, close to the Arctic Circle, is where the frozen conditions are utilized to develop and hone the new car's ABS, traction and stability control systems in the most extreme conditions.
The two-door Vanquish, available in 2+0 and 2+2 seating configuration, is powered by an upgraded version of Aston's ubiquitous 6.0-liter V12 capable of producing 565 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque. All that juice is capable of propelling the svelte GT to 62 mph from a standstill in 4.1 seconds en route to a top speed of 183 mph.
