To some people including myself simple powerful american cars have endearing qualities. Tactile gratification, sounds of motors and ungodly speeds make these cars appealing at least to me.
American cars are not generally deemed as particularly passionate. It seems that they are more rudimentary, powerful and unapologetic.

I wouldn't own this or a Veyron. I'd own many other cars, like a C2 or a M3.
if I had the money to buy this, i WOULDN'T. An AMS Performance Alpha 12 GTR would dust this. for probably $200,000, you get a 0-60 time of 2.1 seconds and it'll do 170 mph in under 9 seconds. the car is say 100,000 plus the Alpha 12 kit which totals to about the aforementioned $200K
They need to put their money where their mouth is and film one of these 5 cars hitting 273 mph. I won't doubt that it can achieve that speed but I wish someone does it soon.
Because you need narrow and special tires to do that, and the salt just won't let you grip and go full speed.
Because tires have a lot more grip in the asphalt than in the sand so they can't get the car to top speed
Why don't they just take it out to Bonneville Salt Flats where they test rocket cars? Miles and miles of nothing.

and Jeremy Clarkson, eventhough I'm a fan of Top Gear, has a huge bias for European cars. The Ultimate Aero has plenty of "soul". Veyron has no soul as it has every driver assist known. Ult. Aero has 0 meaning you have to work to make the car perform
the driver of the car said if he had another mile, it might have got to 270..as the car had more to give. Veyron's run is on a privately owned 7 mile oval with 5 mile straights, exiting out of the turn..120 mph at the start line
SSC can't really do top speed runs because of a lack of space to do it. Their record run was on a 2.5 mile strip of highway. the actually high speed portion lasted 2 miles because they had to brake...
A car like this has no 'soul' like Jeremy clarkson would say about Ferrari. This car was only made to be a record

build quality than a 600 hp tuned I4T, not because of cylinders, but due to the materials in the engine, displacement, quality of the build. Also turbos and forced induction don't help reliablity either generally.
Technically number of cylinders doesn't DIRECTLY affect engine lifespan. But generally number of cylinders goes hand in hand with other things such as displacement, hp/litre, quality of build/parts, etc. A Mercedes 500hp V8 is bound to have higher...
what matt said about the "v4" was true, at least what he was trying to say. he said that a 900hp 4 cyl won't out last a 900hp v8, and that is generally true

SSC are nothing but race. The Veyron has a lot of luxury for a fast car. SSC just chunked off some mass and tweaked the engine..

no way the Veyron will take this car in a mile..in a mile race the Mclaren F1 was beating the Veyron at the 1/2 mile and then the other 500 hp kicked in..my bet in a mile..at the 1/2 vs the UA it's neck and neck and the UA starts walking away!
technically, driving in a proper fashion, the car will have a range of 600 miles on one tank. driving is half the fun and the Ult. Aero makes you drive it..no ABS, no traction control, and a proper 6 sp tranny..although this version has paddles..boo!
Veyron's engineering all went to the motor..which is an amazing machine no doubt..I don't hate the car by any means..Ult. Aero was engineered to be efficient..look at its drag coefficient, the lightweight construction..the 31 gallon fuel tank haha
I would take a SS and a Agera over this thing, UA just looks weird. With that said SSC newest car (can't spell it) looks great!

Now when you through boost into the equation it's going to depend on the amount of PSI and the quality of the parts being used. Essentially, it's about engineering and the intended use of the motor.
I'd say that generally speaking, 4 cylinder motors do last longer. There are just less moving parts that can fail. That being said, there's no reason why a V8 can't be reliable too. There are a lot of V8 trucks with half a million miles on them.
V4.. Wow. They don't put those in cars you know. Matt is so ignorant. When was the last time ANY of you drove all of these cars? The Veyron is faster than the McLaren F1 on paper but the F1 beats the Veyron in the quarter mile.

I just looked it up. It has a yearly running cost of $300,000 so dont tell me its gonna hold up better when the piece of shit needs over a quarter million dollars a year to keep it running

@Patrick I can say that it out handles because the Koenigsegg takes 1.6G on corners ;) and that Christian Von Koenigsegg takes cares of the road feeling like Pagani (Who is the best :D).
I would say it (the veyron) would outlast this car because of all the engineering put into it by Volkswagen. ssc hasn't got a fraction of the money vw does.

I'm answering to Preston and the others how do you want to compare the Veyron to this. It's not even as practical maybe it has the half of cylinders but it's still 7.0 liters. And you can't drive this thing without thinking "Am I gonna die?"
