Honda Reveals Design for 2013 Accord

Hardly a revolutionary leap forward, but certainly more refined than its predecessor.

Honda showcased a concept version for the new Accord back in January at the Detroit Auto Show, where it was met with a generally positive reception. Now the Japanese automaker has revealed the first shots of the ninth-generation production model, hailed as "the most sculpted and the most dynamic Accord yet." The ninth-generation Accord will be available with an array of conventional and hybrid powertrains, but its finalized design has only now come into focus, appearing in both coupe and sedan form.

Up front Honda has gone for a new, more upright grille and a more shapely hood, while the side flanks have been more sculpted. Honda has made the rear appear lower and wider by extending the taillights to the trunk lid, while the headlights (with a strip of LED daytime running lights for the top-end models) have been smartly updated. Honda claims the sleek new exterior is the result of concentrating on maximizing interior space. There is thus increased passenger and cargo space even though overall dimensions have been shortened to help give it a sportier look... while making it easier to park, too.
