Chevrolet Recalls the Greatness of the Stingray Corvette

With the C7 just around the corner, Chevy continues to get the Vette in our minds with the second installment of their Corvette Generations series.

The second installment of Chevrolet's celebration of six decades of the iconic Corvette recalls the C2 generation, which went into production in 1963.

Inspired by the 1959 concept of the same name (and the sea creature), the Corvette Stingray was the first body to be wind tunnel tested. The addition of steel stiffened the chassis, but the C2 was lighter than its predecessor thanks to reducing the thickness of the fiberglass. The first C2 models to roll off the line packed a 327 cubic-inch (5.4-liter) V8 block, with outputs ranging from 250 to 360 horsepower. By 1967, the legendary 427 cubic-inch (7.0 liters) Big Block V8, rated as high as 435 hp, was on offer. Its brief lifespan and beautiful lines makes this one of the most desirable American sports cars of all time.
