Peugeot Designs Onyx Motorcycle to go with Supercar Concept

680-horsepower supercar concept not enough for you? Peugeot makes a three-wheeled hybrid scooter to go with it.

There aren't as many companies making both cars and motorcycles, but Peugeot is one of them. So to go with the Onyx hybrid supercar concept which the French automaker will be unveiling in a week at the Paris Motor Show, it has also put together an Onyx motorbike concept. Like the four-wheeled Onyx, the motorcycle showpiece is decked out in black and copper, under which sits a hybrid powertrain. A 400cc engine is mated to an electric motor to provide 60 horsepower and 43 lb-ft of torque.

That may be a far cry from the 680hp diesel-electric setup in the Onyx supercar, but the Onyx bike concept has some other innovations up its bronzed sleeve. For starters, it isn't a two-wheeler - it's actually a trike, with two wheels in tandem up front and one big seventeen-inch wheel in the back. But that's not the end of it. With a removable center ClipBox, the Onyx can go from a feet-back, head-forward Sport Mode motorbike riding position to a feet-forward, head-up Urban Mode scooter position. In short, the Onyx motorcycle concept is packed with innovation, and while it may not make it to production as is, some of its design elements very well could.
