Motegi Racing Contest Picks Winning Rallycross Design

Ian Thomas wins online contest for rallycross Fiesta livery.
Ever wonder who designs the liveries that feature on racing cars? Wonder no more, as the Motegi Racing team opened it up to a crowd-sourced contest. The Rallycross team for which such big names as Tanner Foust and Brian Deegan drive held the contest on its Facebook page. The star drivers joined a panel of judges, and this is the design they selected. Penned by Ian Thomas of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this design will be turned into reality by Spin Imaging in Long Beach, California.

The finished rally-spec Ford Fiesta will be displayed at the Global Rallycross Championship round in Las Vegas later this month. "I've never designed a livery before," admitted Thomas, who works as a freelance designer. "But I love cars, car design, car photography and rallycross, so this was a perfect contest!"
