Land Rover Updates 2013 Defender

New colors, premium seat design and upgraded in-car entertainment represent the crux of the 2013 Defender’s facelift.

Land Rover has offered the Defender literally for decades. The stalwart off-roader is due to be replaced shortly, but to keep it current (or at least not extinct) in the meantime, LR has given it a series of minor tweaks over the years. Last year it added a new 2.2-liter diesel, and for 2013 is offering new colors and interior accoutrements for the iconic 4x4. Joining the catalog are Barolo Black and a shade of dark grey called Havana. Buyers can only specify a range of contrasting colors for the roof, including Santorini Black, Indus Silver and Firenze Red.

A premium seat design is also available for the 2013 Defender, consisting of part-leather seats up front that offer increased levels of support and comfort and feature Land Rover logos on the backrest and center stitch line on the headrest.

Upgraded in-car entertainment offers CD, USB, auxiliary jack and 4x50W amplification with the option of Bluetooth, subwoofer and 10cm coaxial speakers. The Land Rover Defender still comes with four option packs, while all models have tinted glass and the option of a plain black Pick Up hood. And of course it's still one of the most capable, if rudimentary vehicles on or off the road.
